"Shut The Door.Have A Seat" or "The Return of the CHIP'N'DIP"
Was that cool or what? Mr. Weiner I tip my 1960's fedora to you!

Hi whitewolf!
Welcome! Yes, I got a kick out of Trudy setting up the chip and dip also.
Pete did say they got 2 for their wedding when he was returning one for his precious shot gun.
I said before, the gun has become a running gag, maybe the chip and dip will too.
Just as an aside...why would Trudy set up snacks for Don and Roger when Pete was supposed to be sick? I guess Trudy is just the perfect hostess!
the chip and dip and the gun both appear in this episode!
Wouldn't it be fun to have those two items as the "Where's Waldo" of the show. See if and where it appears in different episodes.
jeffe64 - i def. don't think we have seen the last of these items
@60's Child: "Just as an aside...why would Trudy set up snacks for Don and Roger when Pete was supposed to be sick?"
What? Not put out snacks for visiting bosses!? *Gasp* I'm going t have to ask you to turn in your Martha Stewart club card (tastefully decorated with clip art and glitter) and Emily Post decoder ring until you realize the error of your ways! Trudy would never be so negligent. Sick or not (really sick or not), Pete's bosses and guests to Trudy's home must be offered refreshments!
@ 60's child- yes Trudy was being the perfect hostess! That is a reflection on her and her hosting skills!
@Thirteen-LOL (Martha Stewart club card and Emily Post decoder ring) Very funny!!
You always keep something in your fridge to serve for unexpected guest!! Just in case!! Even if the guests don't eat anything, you at least offer it. Or maybe she could have offered them a drink! They may have taken her up on that one.
Now you've got me thinking...the chip-n-dip really could stand as Trudy "totem," given how sh loves to play the part of elegant hostess--the one who brings the sandwiches. Pete, who likes to think of himself as a hunter, has his gun (Ken even says that Pete tried to "poach" John Deere, like a hunter). Bert is his Rothko which we also see the return of in this episode as it's wheeled out and he worries that the moving men haven't washed their hands. Like a piece of modern art Bert is colorful, enigmatic, whimsical, eccentric.
Paul is his pipe (pretentious). Sal is his vest--buttoned up and dapper.
Don is his hat :-)
Any other character totems?
@thirteen-I like where you are going with this:
Character totems:
Don-his Fedora hat or his secrets
Betty-her fainting chair
Bert-the Rothko(as you said earlier)
Roger-his one liners or maybe his child bride
Paul-his ascot (does he still wear that)or maybe his guitar
Ken-his lighter (that Sal now has)
Peggy-being "one of those girls" (as her sister said)
Pete-his gun (of course)
Lois-her ability to do dumb things
Pryce-the stupid choking snake in a basket(he was almost choked in his career)
Harry-his bow tie
Conrad-his stetson
Henry-??(jury is still out on that one)
Sal-vest (as you said)
Help me out
Joan-the caged canary when she was Roger's mistress
Betty-- her Daddy's Lincoln
Grandpa Gene-- The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, hardbound
Peggy-- her typewriter (or her crucifix, can't decide)
Pete-- his blue suit
Trudy-- her hostess apron
Carla-- her coverall apron
Harry-- his specs (sees the TV future)
Roger-- an ice bucket
Bert-- his socks
Suzanne-- her loose hair and bare feet
Bobbie Barrett-- her cigarette holder
Jimmy Barrett-- a white dinner jacket
Lois-- her switchboard
Ken-- lots of phone numbers
Freddy-- his trousers
Rachel-- her Daddy's store
Midge-- her easel
Sal-- his cuff links
Mona-- her Saks account
Sally-- a 1962 Barbie doll
Bobby-- a dirty striped tee shirt
Joan-- her pen necklace
Don-- his Zippo lighter
fifty-two -
Betty - her father's Lincoln.
Uh-uh. Betty - perfectly coifed hair (in contrast to Suzanne.)
Thirteen -
Pete with his .22 rifle, Ken with John Deere, Pete attempting to "poach" John Deere.
Perfect connection.
Not to mention the Martha Stewart card and Emily Post decoder ring. LOL!
The end of Don and Betty totem - the Coliseum charm
naughty totems:
peggy - the relaxicisor
kinsey - marilyn- jackie campaign
betty- washing machine
pete- au pair's dress
sal - exploding pen (got that one from a blog)
joan - can't remember the name of the racy book she was reading in the break room season1 - someone help me out!
don - his digits - poor bobby barrett
correction - pete - his olympic swimmers
roger and his paddle ball
Love love LOVE this post!
It was such a short shot, but I couldn't help but think "It's that damn chip'n'dip!"
Agree with many posters as far as totems.
Especially fifty-two (while the rifle is definitely important) I agree 150% Pete's bright blue suit absolutely defines him (he was wearing a pale blue blazer later in the ep as well that really made him stand out)
Also Joan's pen necklace (super stoked to see her wearing it again!) and I believe the book that she and the other secretaries were passing around was D.H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterly's Lover
And although it was a joke - Peggy and the Relaxicisor (you know she still keeps it in her room!)
Bert's socks - Totally
And Roger's paddle ball - hilarious!
Especially fifty-two (while the rifle is definitely important) I agree 150% Pete's bright blue suit absolutely defines him (he was wearing a pale blue blazer later in the ep as well that really made him stand out) Running Wilde Season 1 Episode 10 | The Closer Season 6 Episode 14
