After that scene definitely. She passed out like a little school girl drinking for the first time.Joan is a robust woman who knows how to please a man.

I have always held out hope for Joan and Roger...but, seeing the expression of love on Mona's face (watching Roger's "lioness" compliment to her) made me feel sorry for her all over again...all she ever did was love the ass, and he cheats on her with Joan and then dumps them both for the mess that is Jane!

I would like to see Roger and Joan be happy together, but, I want Mona to find someone fantastic, too!

I love it that Roger is bored with that gold digger from Trenton. When he asked if she was going to commit suicide, it was because he wants her to do it. He feels nothing but contempt for her. HAHAHA! He has respect for Mona and Joan.

I think he has already has tired of her! She is a boring child who can’t handle her liquor. I love it that he called Joan with Jane passed out right there. He knows he screwed up. Mona and Jane are smart and classy and Jane is, well, not.

Is Mona a lioness or a "cougar"?

user-pic

Lioness. Roger meant that as a compliment for the way Mona takes care of their daughter. A lioness is very protective of her cubs. Mona was with a man her own age at the wedding reception.

Remember how Jane reacted to liquor at the Ky Derby party?

Do I think that Jane is a gold diggin' stick figure with no soul? Absolutely! Do I like Mona? Yes. Do I really like Joan? I do and I feel sorry for her being trapped in that particular time in history. Do I think Roger is worthy of either Mona OR Joan? Absolutely not, but I'm not quite sure if he deserves nasty blank slate Jane. Unfortunately, some people tend to find it much easier to have relationships with the aforementioned blank slates than with individuals who are multi faceted fully developed mature adults. Hence, Roger's initial infatuation (?) with paper-doll Jane. Did I love the scene when he calls Joan with Jane passed out on the bed next to him? Yep. Did I adore that when her hand flopped next to his side while talking with "Joanie" that he tossed it off of him in disgust? Yep. Is Roger pretty much a cad? Absolutely. I KNOW that Joan can do way better than Dr. Neanderthal Greg, but how much more evolved is Roger? The only MM characters as intellectually bright as Joan are probably Don and Peggy (who have their own social-relationship-psychological issues). Poor Joan should have been born at least 20 years later than she was. Even then, she'd have given the more "evolved" males in her cohort group a run for their money. And just because I want to type it: Jane is an idiot. I can't wait (I hope!) Roger dumps her. Mona has more class than I thought. Good for her, The Lioness! Joan needs to leave Dr. G and move on. Maybe Dr. G and Stick Figure Jane can get together.....but then there would be TWO children in their relationship. Who would take care of them?

Roger turns to Joan in his moments of crisis, she is the one who understands him and their relationship has depth. Roger had a fine wife in Mona, she really knows how to take the high road. She smoothed out all the bad feelings between her daughter and Jane in order to make the wedding incident free. You have to love Mona. I still don't understand tho why Roger didn't marry Joan instead of Jane once he decided he was going to throw in the towel on his marriage and live out his days with a hot babe. Was it just a timing thing? By the time he realized he wanted out of marriage Joan was already with Greg. But I would think it would not have stopped him from pursuing Joan if that's who he really wanted to be with. Was Jane just a better trophy wife?

az-fan -
Roger's timing with Joan was off. He didn't decide to go for a divorce until well after Joan was engaged to the good doctor. He as much as said he wasn't going to divorce his wife.

In a sense, Jane was a rebound choice. Young, good-looking, decent arm-candy, she was his best option at the time. Had Joan known he was going to dump Mona, she might have hung around so he could roam those hills much longer.

But Roger never gave any indication he wanted to leave Mona except to say that if he hadn't hooked up with her, he might have left Mona. One reason she was all business when he'd finished his business.

Fact is, no matter how much MM fans want it, a Roger-Joan marriage ain't gonna happen anytime soon. Maybe Season Five. Or maybe Roger can get introduced to Juanita Campbell... :-)

Hi everyone!

@SCfan: I'm with you! I want to see Roger and Joan together. But, I did feel a heart tug for Mona when Roger was toasting her!

I think Jane is about to emplode!

I want Roger and Joan together, and yes he did fiddle around about leaving Mona for Joan. I also want Betty and Don together [I am probably way out numbered here, I feel kinda sorry for Don], I want Sal Romano back, I want for Peggy to get fed up with Duck and hook up with younger guys!

I tend to agree with Marlo and Esp December bride. I know feeling bad for Don is unwarented but I just do. And Duck - Yuck!

I also think Roger has grown tired of Jane. The way he treats her is pretty ridiculous, too.

"JANE! GET IN HERE!" is not really what one would expect coming from a husband to a wife...maybe from a parent to a child, however.

I think he was more hurt than he let on about losing Joan, but their timing was all wrong. I hope they get together next season, but Jane will have to go.
