MadMen DVD as Christmas gift option, opinions valued
I have several friends and relatives, who I have begged to watch MadMen. I am just wondering if getting the first season MadMen DVD for some of them is a good idea. I mean you can lead a horse to water, but the horse might want something stronger. Anyway I know these folks would love the show if they gave it a chance. My question is should I bother or not.

By all means. If they have expressed a desire to watch the show, give them the greatest gift of all, entre' to a masterpiece.
Most definitely!! Or you can give them to me for Christmas! (LOL) Actually, I am hoping my husband will get them for me.
I think they would really like it and once you watch it, you are hooked!! You are a wonderful person to give such a nice gift!
I so agree! I want all three seasons, but I am waiting for a "box set", who knows the logic in that? lol
I will probably watch on DVR or On Demand until I get the said box set after eight (we should be so lucky) seasons! (Isn't that how many The Sopranos went?)
Do definitely get the Season 1 DVDs for your giftees, hobo, and if you can find that beyond-cool set that came packaged like a "lighter" with a flip-top, so much the better....I still wish I'd gotten that when it was available! Only on the secondary market (Ebay, etc.) now, I imagine....sigh

No, really, Hobo. I would have to say your gift choices depend on many factors, such as how are you fixed for the readies, how many people do you have to shop for, and have nice gifts to those people been appreciated in the past? If you're flush, go for it-- though some folks I know always seem to find an excuse NOT to watch or read the media I've given them. It can be frustrating. But you do the best you can, right?
