Leonard Cohen Influence in Season 3
I just read an article featuring Abigail Spencer, who plays Suzanne. She shares that Matt Weiner based her character on the Leonard Cohen song of the same name. Check out the lyrics at the URL below. They paint a familiar picture and might offer some clarification to those who've questioned what could possibly have attracted Don to Miss F.

I think that Soprano's of which MW was a part, used Halleleujah by Leonard Cohen as an outrack. Truly a great song. check it out on youtube
I was walking up Madison Avenue yesterday at lunchtime and Janaury Jones was walking a few
paces in front of me. I stopped her and told her how much I love the show. She couldn't have been any nicer and even shook my hand. I asked her if she will be coming back in Season 4 and she said that "We will be back for another season". I guess that means Betty will be back too. I told January that I think it's strange that she keeps getting hooked up with guys with two first names like Dick/Don and now Henry Francis. Something tells me that Betty and Henry will marry and that his character will die. There was something so personal in the way that Betty Draper reacted to JFK's death. I almost felt like she was his widow. I am really looking forward to seeing January host SNL this weekend and I can't wait for the new season of MM to start.
Gwen72,
Thanks for such a great tidbit of information! I think I am one of the few fans who genuinely liked Suzanne Farrell, and you telling me that her character was based on the Leonard Cohen song makes me like her even more! She's the kind of gal I'd like to see Don end up with when he finally gets his act together. Suzanne seems like the perfect girl for Dick Whitman. Leonard Cohen inspired = fantastic!
