Good for Peggy and Betty: The Women Are Getting Bold

It was great to see Peggy stand up for herself and put Don in his place. She also told Roger "NO" when she asked him to fetch him some coffee. Betty also showed some backbone by telling Don she was leaving him and there was nothing he could do about it. Yes indeed, the women are getting bold and sassy! I wonder if this is a sign off things to come for next season.

Yes, the ladies finally had their say, but so did Pete! He's quite the negotiator. I was proud of him.
And Harry had to make a decision without consulting Jennifer....can it be true??

Yes, Betty stood up to Don and didn't back down but, there she is, jumping from one man to the next allowing herself to be led. I guess Peggy is doing the same thing in a way with Don, but, at least she has her talent and she knows it and there is power in that knowledge.

I wouldn't say Betty was standing up for herself but rather letting herself be advised and led by different men. It's just that she's decided (actually last episode) that Don wasn't going to be the one. With Henry it's not so much that she's in love with him but rather he's an escape from her current situation.

For Henry, right now, things are fine. But then they haven't started living or even sleeping together. She's his idealized princess. Things will change.

Peggy, on the other hand, didn't fall for Don's first offer. He had to come back to her, not wanting Smitty and Kurt. Paul was a non-starter as far as Don was concerned.

I know it's already been said in different words, but Betty isn't standing up for herself. She wouldn't be leaving Don if she didn't have Henry by her side. She is like so many women, including some in my own family, who don't leave a man unless they have another one lined up to take care of her and tell her what to do.

But I didn't like it when Don got mad at her for having someone on the side and called her a whore. Jon Hamm plays him so well. One minute I like Don and the very next I hate him but still find him devilishly good-looking!

It's 1963, Betty has 3 children. What do you expect.... for Betty to get a job? Face it, without the Henry 'life raft' she would be stuck. What I find unbelievable is that she found someone who is willing to take a woman with 3 kids he's never met after only knowing her for a short time. What is wrong with him?

Betty finally got the father figure she wanted in henry. He is infantilizing her with his offer to provide for her and she liked. NOT BOLD.

Henry is infantilizing Betty with his offer to provide for her and she liked! A new father figure. She's only standing up for her belief that she should be treated like a princess. NOT BOLD.

why not to fight for alimony and child support? She barely knows anything about Henry!

Betty is taking a huge risk not asking for anything from Don. Anything could happen to Henry before he is able to marry her. He may see what a boring bitch and horrible mother she is and decide to break it off. Then where will she be? Although I can’t see Don letting his kids live in a bad situation. He would still pay for a home and support for them, and by extension, Betty.

I’m interested to see who Don’s next love interest will be. Surely he won’t go back to Miss Farrell? I would love to see him meet an intellectual equal that he can really be comfortable and happy with, and not have to sneak around.

My thoughts exactly, Pink63! Betty is taking a gigantic risk for herself and her children. She wants so badly to be wanted that it's sad. Did you see the look of delight on her face in the lawyer's office when Henry offered to take care of her and said that she didn't need anything from Don? It will be so interesting to see where Betty and Henry are in season four, once they've really spent some time together.

@The look on Betty's face in the lawyer's office when Henry offered to take care of her did not strike me as "delight". Surprise? She looked down and shook her head "no". I didn't know what to make of it, but delight wasn't even on my list.

That Peggy spoke honestly was indeed bold. Bette's behavior is just psychotic.
