Not bad, but they missed the most symbolic scene of season three: the blood splatter from the tractor mishap covering the three men who in the previous scene were discussing the escalating U.S. involvement in Vietnam. The allusion continues as the blood-covered guys attempt to get clean but can't seem to get it off - in fact blood is everywhere as the janitors streak it across the glass partition.

'Loves Mad Men' - the people who write the show are "nuts in the head" about symbolism, foreshadow, metaphor, etc... That's why they're writers

Thanks. You pointed out a fascinating website. I've studied and taught semiotics on and off for years. Many viewers choose to explain away visual symbolism as either accidental or natural.

Kudos to NY Mag writer, Logan Hill, for creating a slideshow that makes the symbolism MM employs both accessible and credible. It's obvious that the MM cast and crew put extensive thought into the look of each scene. In good theatre, nothing's accidental.
