Talk: Mad Men: November 22, 2009 - November 28, 2009
Don Draper "contract" scene rerun in Season 3?
Ok, there's an episode in season 3 where Don finally signs a contract. There's a scene where he's at home and Betty confronts Don about it. Don says "No contract means I have the power!" Call me crazy but I thought that this scene was in an earlier episode of Mad Men (perhaps Season 2?) Did anyone else notice this? It was like Deja Vu!
TV Times Awards
Mad Men never won best digital programme at the TV Times Awards 2009, it did not even make into the top 3
MadMen DVD as Christmas gift option, opinions valued
I have several friends and relatives, who I have begged to watch MadMen. I am just wondering if getting the first season MadMen DVD for some of them is a good idea. I mean you can lead a horse to water, but the horse might want something stronger. Anyway I know these folks would love the show if they gave it a chance. My question is should I bother or not.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Maddicts!!
Enjoy the holiday, and don't throw any turkeys out of a window!
Peggy's Baby....(Oh, no, not THAT question again!)
No, I am not going to ask if Anita is raising the little tyke. I was just thinking that he would have had a birthday right around Thanksgiving on the show. If memory serves, the baby was born just before Thanksgiving in 1960. The reason I was thinking of the baby was because I was recently sitting with my grandchild trying to entertain her while we waited for her mother. I pulled a pad of paper and a pen from my purse for her to draw on, and she immediately fell in love with the "little man" falling up and down in the pen. Grandma had a time of it getting her pen back. Anyway, the point of this whole boring story is that I realized Peggy's baby would now be a toddler at the end of Season 3.
Three seasons and three babies born....oh, and three deaths, too, I think.....Adam, Pete's father and Betty's father, Gene.
Sal
Is there any chance they'll bring him back...loved his character...sould also like them to follow up on his poor wife when she realized during his Bye BYe Birdie that he was gay....she should get an Emmy just for that scene
Season 4 takes place in 1964 - The First Year of The 1964-1965 New York World's Fair
I hope the writers plan to include this in their stories, there was a big deal of advertising by Corporate America for this event. You might say that the NYWF was the pinnacle of American commercialism.
Great contest for Mad Men fanatics!
Hi there, my name is Ian and I run a fashion blog called Calculatus Eliminatus (www.cefashion.net). I am running a contest to see who can tell us who the most fashionable male character on Mad Men is and why! The prize is valued at over $200 and includes the Season 1 box set, a mahogany cigar case, and a fancy shmancy Brooks Brothers tie! Head on over and tell us who's the king of class at Sterling Cooper Price!
Mad Men Forum Is Looking for Moderators

Sunday again and no Mad Men.....sigh
The latest Entertainment Weekly lists "Mad Men withdrawal" as being the latest "in" thing in their "what's in and what's out" column. Boy, they got that right.
I made a meatloaf for dinner today, using a new recipe......just like Betty, I was careful with the salt. Too bad, as maybe more salt might have helped it out a little. The meatloaf expert in the family said he liked it, but I was not too impressed. Perhaps with less horseradish next time.
Went back and read the predictions thread for Season 3. Wow, folks were expecting big things from Paul......he was going to lead the civil rights charge at Sterling Cooper and write a best seller, among other things. Pete was going to dump Trudy, and he and Peggy were going to be back in love and off searching for their baby by Season 3's end. Betty was supposed to have a girl, which would cement her relationship with Don and they would live happily ever after.
Joan was either going to dump her rat doctor or wind a victim of domestic violence......instead she smashed a vase over his head and he's off to Viet Nam. Roger was going to be sick of Jane and quickly dump her and then rush to poor Joan's rescue. Instead Joan came to the rescue of Sterling Cooper, Draper and Pryce.
Gosh this was a great season. When do we get to watch it again?
"THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL" .... Well, at least they had Keanu cast right as a robotic alien....
Woops my first post jumped the gun, sorry.
As I was posting....anyone catch the remake on HBO last night? Poor Jon Hamm....only a few lines/scenes and then they killed him off in a car wreck just like the wreck he had with Bobbie Barrett!
Anyway....
