Sweet Sally
When Sally answered the phone, and no one responded, I was pretty sure it was her former teacher calling for Don. Then I remembered the little boy Sally kissed in the bathtub....maybe he now has a crush on her and was too shy to speak when she answered. I was so hoping to hear her say "Thith ith Thally Draper. Who ith calling, pleath?" I love that little Sally Draper....in the words of Lou Grant, she's got spunk. Jeez Louise, do you think some day she will be looking after Bobby and Gene like the teacher takes care of her brother?

Aw, what a cute idea to think that maybe little Ernie was calling Sally! How sweet. I think at their age, 9 or 10, the boys are probably mostly still in the "yuck, girls have cooties" phase though. Ernie wasn't all that into Sally's kiss. He looked rather stunned. When I was that age, lots of the girls started liking boys a couple of years before any of the boys reciprocated...
Remember how Betty said Sally would only be allowed to answer the phone if she did it "the right way" which means identically to Betty's own preferred style of answering calls, of course, i.e. "Draper Residence". Or in this case, "Draper Rethidenth". ;)
I hope neither Bobby nor Gene will be saddled with a chronic illness like Miss Farrell's unfortunate little bro. Wonder if we'll see any more of him in the future or if that was just one of those wacky random Don encounters.
Thanks Zerelda, you gave me my first good laugh in a week!!
Thith ith Thally! LOL!
No, I think Sally will be self centered like her parents. She already has problems.
@blue: I hope both the teacher and her brother drop off the face of the Earth.
I know it has been mentioned that Sally has a lisp but has anyone noticed that Betty also has a lisp?
and yes I hope the sister and brother storyline disappears it just doesn't fit and it almost makes me lose my interest in the show
Zerelda: Don't you remember, Lou Grant hated spunk!
@LoveMadMen, you are right that Sally has problems, but how could you not, being raised in that house with and absentee father and a shrew of a mother. Betty and Don are going to have their hands full when the counter culture hits in a few years (coinciding with Sally's teenage years). But I don't think Sally will be quite as self centered as her folks. We've already seen that she's been affected by what she's seen on TV about the civil rights movement (Medgar Evers death) and Vietnam (the monk immolating himself). I think there may be hope for young Sally.
I have to say, that little actor who plays Sally is phenomenal--What a face! She really does have spunk! (I love the Lou Grant reference btw).
I wonder if Ms. Farrell ever referred Sally to the speech therapist? I remember in 2nd grade there were a couple of students in my class who got up and left at least once/week to go to "Speech class." I was so clueless, I thought that meant they were so smart, they were already learning how to give speeches! Seriously. But my mother explained it was because they lisped.
Do they still do that today, draw attention to those students by taking out of class for speech therapy?
Today's kids need 'like' therapy. Every other word out of their mouths is like! I think the hang-up call was Henry, cuz he did wait a moment, as he probably thought it was Betty, female's voice.

I would like to derail my usual blog topics and talk about my favorite TV show. (Again, MAD MEN SPOILERS!!!) Did anyone else scream loudly WHAT THE F@#$%??? WHAT THE F@#$%??? WHAT THE F@#$%??? Like, 18 times, watching the Mad Men finale? I finally had time to watch it last night, and pulled the covers over my head (we watch TV on our laptop in bed) in sheer terror of that marriage proposal. The complete insanity of it all. The MADNESS. But I don’t think I hated it – I just can’t full absorb what happened I’m in such shock (but damn, I love a good shocker finale!) I also wanted to strangle Betty for the 5th time this season, despite her not making too many appearances. Overall I loved this season to pieces. The episode where Peggy and Don bonded was one of my favorite moments in television history. I loved watching Don try to change, Peggy try new things, and other characters fall apart and pick themselves back up again. I can’t wait to see what happens next season with the Ginault campaign as well. What did you think? Tell me everything.Ginault watch company (www.ginault.com), based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, keeps a comprehensive collections of vintage and new Rolex timepieces to preserve the legacy of Swiss haute horlogerie. PS. Did you know that the slightly creepy neighbor kid Glen is Matt Weiner’s son?
