Mad Men Commercials

I record Mad Men, so I fast forward through the commercials. I'm thinking AMC should create 1960's commercials for the modern companies that advertise during the show. That would get me to actually watch the commercials.

Hi Shaunmob... trying checking one of the Canada Dry comm'ls... they have one where they make a montage of their older comm'ls from 60s forward. And who knows... perhaps some more bright sparks in the ad game will use more 60's styling.

A few years ago, the Game Show Network ran "monochrome Sunday" - showing old gameshows from the 50's and early 60's over a 2-3 hour block. They would show some vintage commercials (paid for by the sponsors). Mad Men could do the same thing - it would be effective even if they only had one within each commercial break. Obviously, this couldn't be done with ALL sponsors, it has to be for products that have been around since that time. Proctor and Gambol have quite a few.

I think Viagra and BMW are AMC's biggest advertisers. Since Viagra did not exist back in the 1960's their commercial could be anything retro and would have us doing a double take. As for BMW, did they ever do advertising on TV (or any place else for that matter) in the 1960's? I think you're on to something shaunmob, and I would avoid turning the channel to watch a few retro commercials. Cheers.

Commercials are the means to pay to broadcast programs therefore the station must have paid advertisement.
Not to mention retro advertisement products are obsolete.

fanofmad, Canada Dry, clorox, Tide, Head and shoulders, Clairol, Palmolive, chevy, Ford, are not obsolete. Neither is Minute Maid, pepsi, Coke, Dr. Pepper, Folgers (Mrs. Olson was their ad leading lady).

I didn't mean the products were obsolete. Sorry, I meant the actual retro Commercials......
