Do You Know Of Fairness Doctrine?

Why in a free country is there censorship on here? I thought television is controlled by FCC.

I have no idea what you're referring to. The "fairness doctrine" is the (now defunct) requirement for television and radio stations to allow opposing viewpoint to receive air time. The FCC has some governance over broadcast radio and television; I believe they have less oversight over cable-only channels.

What does that have to do with Mad Men?

"A website or blog is effectively private property and anyone’s access to that property is conditionally granted by the website’s operator. That “conditionally” pretty much means the website operator can control, limit, or deny you access whenever they please for whatever reason and with any legal means they have at their disposal. Some people have the mistaken notion of entitlement that they can spout whatever they want on other people’s websites without consequence or censure. They need to understand that visiting and participating on any website is done “at will” with very few legal or implied “rights or freedoms” for the visitor/participant." --Kai Pan, Society and Culture

@Fred2: It's the troll. Come on over to our site: The Sterling Cooper Yahoo Group. No trolls, no fighting, no lunatics. Just good comments. Be sure to say that NeverNotTasty sent you.

Yeah Auburn Annie! Well said!

I am lawyer in Russia AND qualified in NY. What do you do Annie? The FCC controls the public airwaves and this comments section is tied to the Mad Men show. AMC can eliminate all comments sections if they choose but cannot censor comments or block users. If they don't like certain words, they may filter them vey easily but any word in the dictionary should not be filtered out. AMC is also following a discriminatory policy by permitting feminist hate speech and deleting any rebutals or opposing views.
And Annie, this is not a private blog.Learn the difference. I don't think that the advertisers are going to be happy about losing all of their male customers.

It's crazy to have so many crazy trolls from Russia on this site!

PS The fairness doctrine was abolished in 1987 - read all about it

Auburn: If I have a complaint I'll just bring it up at the next shareholders meeting since I own the stock.

And you certainly have a lot of time on your hands. Perhaps you should get a job.

LOLOLOLOL - for a "lawyer" you have at least as much time as I do. Business must be slow. And I don't need a job, thank you. Been there, done that and can do as I please these days....yee haw!!

Buh bye!
