AWARD WINNING EPISODE OF THE SEASON ON SO MANY LEVELS
Oct 25th ep was the best of the season. Don Hamm deserves an award. I 've always liked the teacher. I felt sorry for her waiting in the car. I just knew that when Don was upstairs and he said "I'm in here Betts" and the camera zoomed to the doorway there was an anticipiation, i wanted it to be Suzanne walking up the stairs, but it turned out to be Betty. Talk about climatic. She had no idea Betty and the kids would be back so soon, I thought she would have gone in to see what was taking him so long.
I think at some point Don and Betty will end up divorced. I want them divorced by SERIES end, which i hope is not for a long time. I dont' see them being that "perfect" couple together at home, maybe as a facad like now.. I don't think she is the love of his life. She fits the role he lives.
I believe when Roger told Annabelle she wasnt the one, he wasnt thinking of his new wife but of Joan. Hopefully they will end up together.
I think that Greg will soon end up or missing in Vietnam. The closing scene will be Joan reading a telegram of his ...end scene. OR either a shot of two Army personnel walking up to her door , she opens the door and just the look on her face ends the scene. End of story line for Greg. Joanie goes back to SC and finds love once again with Roger. I think they both love each other.

Jon. His name is Jon.
Suzanne would have never come to the house. She was screwing a married man. Felt sorry for her waiting? She knew when he didn't come out that he got caught. Also, the camera didn't "zoom to the door" - it was a wide shot of both of them. You really expected it to be the teacher?
Creolegal: I agree with you about Suzanne. Most people seem to sympathize with Don but not Suzanne. It's the same old double standard; the evil seductive woman ruining the happy family man.
But as with Suzanne it's always the woman who pays. It happens sometimes that people are attracted to someone and fall in love. It takes two to tango and they both are to blame if blame is going to be incurred.
I loved "The English Patient" , also about an extramarital affair, but such big passion and profound love. I am a sucker for a show about an edgy affair. If Don just sticks with Betty and lives happily ever after it will be dullsville USA.
I admit, I half-expected it to be Suzanne who came into the bedroom as well. Stupid, I know, but there you are.

At the time, back in '63, Vietnam was only one of several countries we were sending "military advisors" just as in Korea before that "police action." The U.S. still has them there and in various locations. It was only during the Tet Offensive in January, 1968 that American opinion concerning the war began to radically change. Six months later was the Democratic convention in Chicago...
The Gulf of Tonkin incident happened almost a year after this episode in August, 1964 and then-president Johnson used it to send massive quantities of soldiers and equipment to "support the South Vietnamese effort to resist communism."
Greg could be sent to Vietnam as support personnel. Or could be killed in an automobile accident in West Germany. Or not.

Not to worry. This is Don Draper we're talking about, not Harry Crane. Figure the odds.
I want Betty to divorce Don because he's such a cad.
I want Joan and Roger together because they belong together. He can send that gold digger, what's her face, back to Trenton.
I still thkink Sally is going to murder her entire family in a few years.
Joan and Roger belong together. What's her face, the gold digger from Trenton, is a sloppy, falling down drunk. I hope she gets hit by a truck and soon.
I want Betty to leave the philandering Don. He mistreats her all the time.
Sally will kill her entire family some day soon.
Hi Ritt... Like your post very much, and not for the first time! Well done, IMHO. That is an excellent precis of info about Vietnam as it relates to the show. The only thing I would add is re the newly enlisted Greg -- he will soon be away for army basic training - (for 8 weeks at the *very* minimum) and so would be out of the timeline as we now understand it. I too have reservations about whether they will kill him off -- but would bet the ranch that it would not be in Vietnam. At least not in this season...
...I want - I want - I want!!! You sound like a child.
I think Roger is devoted/commited to Jane and will always respect Joan and they may not have what they had before but their relationship is on a whole new level now
this website is so annoying now it is not posting my comments at all
oh now it is but it takes 10-15 min
Loves seems like you have a violent nature. Maybe you had this sort of relationship in the past." Sally will kill her family"."What's her face, the gold digger from Trenton, is a sloppy, falling down drunk. I hope she gets hit by a truck and soon." Wow, Loves" don't try to be a man be a woman"
Don and Betty don't have it that bad. Don loves Betty, or at least the idea of Betty (good enough, in my book). Betty has a good provider who doesn't hit her (this is a reference to the lawyer's comments to her). They have cute children and plenty of income. They have the opportunity to fulfill their sexual needs (even if not always at home). It's not a storybook, romantic marriage, but serviceable.
