ADDICTION TO MADMEN
I watched one episode and now I am hooked. This show is incredible....I can't believe it has taken me three seasons to find out about it. I watched season one DVD's last night, and got off work to get season two. It is totally addictive and so cool to remember all those things from the 60's when I was just a kid.

"... took off work to get Season 2". Yup you're a maddict alright. Welcome Lisa.!
I discovered Season 1 last January on Netflix, Season 2 on I-tunes & now I am enjoying Season 3 for the first time as it is played on AMC. This is the best TV show I have ever wathced!
I can't think of any show that I have watched that I was completely and utterly addicted to like I am with Mad Men!! I watch each episode 2-3 times and of course come straight to this site toget everyone's input. Can't watch the show without all of you! Thanks!!! I am definitely hooked!! I almost scare myself how much I love this show!!
LOL! I love when people discover this show and then become addicted! Enjoy it!
I literally stumbled on this show at the very beginning of Episode 101 while channel surfing at 9 p.m. CST one Sunday evening in what, Fall 2007. The atmosphere of this handsome man smoking in a bar was so alluring--it immediately drew me in and I just left it on that channel and watched. Talk about luck--I'm sure I would have discovered it eventually, but I literally watched it from the get-go by accident! I was hooked as if I were actually smoking again! I think that's what did it--it was vicarious smoking without the ill effects.
Lisa: I can take it or leave it. Getting a bit soapy.
@Betty Crocker: Me too! I was taking a break from painting....trying to get my mom's house ready to sell...and just tuned in to AMC. They were running a marathon of the first few episodes on a Sunday afternoon. I didn't get to see Episode One till later that night. I was addicted right away, and still can't believe MM is on regular, free cable.
I was told about the show a few weeks before the third season started. I had just enough time to watch all the episodes before season 3 began.
Good old library has them. I prefer to watch series all at once one after the other, but it's hard to resist when a show is airing and I've caught up to it. I'm enjoying sharing the discussion during the airing of this season.
Hi Jeffe64...I'll echo you in that this is the best show I've ever encountered on TV... I'm a total Maddict. Our local critic wrote about it when it was in production, and I thought: the sixties... hmmm, fertile ground, must check out. This site makes MM even richer... some marvelous insights here!
Why bother to go to the movies when you can watch Mad Men or the Sopranos? More interesting, relevant, and intelligent than almost anything in theaters.
BTW--has anyone ever had a MM-related dream? I just did last night and I think that officially makes me a hardcore Maddict:
I had a restless sleep last night and had the most freaky dream about Pete last night...He lived in this small, kind of grimy apartment, which was connected to the SC offices (sort of). He was kind of in love with me, and my husband didn't seem to mind, but I wasn't interested. But he was also sleeping with another SC employee that had the same first name as me (not any real character) and I was afraid everyone would think it was me (I guess I worked at SC though that wasn't clear). At one point, I'm in his bathroom and there were all these bras hanging and drying after being washed, including some of mine.
Apparently, Pete was up for Employee of the Year, and I come back into his apartment and he's pulling sheet pans of meatballs and sausages and some sort of toasted bread out of this old white oven. He is about to throw a party for himself because he indeed did win the employee of the year award. One of the pans is literally half a pizza pan cut in half, and he throws it with disgust into this old fashioned white sink.
The scene changes to a bigger room (I guess the SC offices, but nothing like the show) decorated with signs saying Congratulations Pete! and cake and cookies and soda bottles.
Okay, so what's up with that?? Anyone with some dream interpretation knowledge? Very strange, no?
@Betty Crocker- Yes!!! I hate to admit it but I have had some dreams about this show. Can't really remember in great detail what the dreams were about, I just wake up with Mad Men on my mind and bits and pieces of the dream. ( They say if you can't remember the dream within the first 30 seconds of waking up...its gone!) You are good to remember it in such detail.
Now I don't feel too ashamed for dreaming about this show...since I am not the only one.
Thanks Betty!!
I own season one on dvd and concentrating on getting season two dvd's by christmastime, I have the CD from season one, and now run the VCR, for the current season and try too make sure they are in order by episode as they happen, like the commercial says, three more episodes to season closer, we are all anticipating the outcome of the years questions.
