What do you think Sal spent that extra $12.00 dollars on in Baltimore?

Pryce said Don's expense account was $70.00, Sal's was $82.00.
I'm guessing he bought extra pens, pencils, and paper!

Hi 60's child!

I think this is a good question. My theory is he tipped the bellhop for fixing his air conditioner AND for the extra attention he was given as well as to keep him quiet about their "alone time". Don said he signed off on all of his receipts and probably knows where that extra money went. But Don won't say anything because he was "caught in the act" as well.

Hi jeffe64!

Great theory! Maybe that's why the bellboy was trying to get into Sal's pants...he wanted a better tip!

Maybe Sal arranged to meet the bellhop at the corner bar after the fire was out. ;-) Bought him a few drinks and perhaps agreed to meet again?

New trousers

Ice for that extra cold shower he had to take.

A new shirt.

Sal had a pen in his pocket that exploded when the bellhop got close.

Sal,gave the bellboy 10 bucks and then went to Walgreens and bought himself some mouthwash with the other 2 bucks..

I think Christopher has the final word!

But probably a new shirt, and I suppose it got on the jacket.

The inflation caluclator shows that $12 in 1963 is equal to almost $85 in today's money. Maybe Sal was just trying to boost his income, if some charges were allowed without receipts. After all, Don earns a lot more. Making a bit of money off one's expense reports was hardly a new idea even in 1963.
