Gene is going to have another stroke and pass away and the photo we see of Betty and him is of her talking to his ghost because she has flipped out.
I am saying this "tongue in cheek". But don't you think Betty looks frazzled in the photo? Not her usual self.

She only looks frazzled because she's found Bobby has applied for another mother, one who will let him talk - Carla. Sally would have joined him but she's having too much fun reading "Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" for Grandpa Gene. Not to mention Don is coming home every night on time. It takes a lot of the sizzle out of her mind these days when she knows he's not cheating on her.

Daddy Gene is telling her he's leaving all his stock in the company to Brother Bill because she never was interested in the company to begin with. But he's leaving the house to Betty because she has shown an interest in it. A house only a few hours away by train.

@sab-What photo? Is that your guess, Gene for the opener? I'm away & have only watched the episode once. It's just for fun!

I have Mad Men in my favorites...so when I 'click' it takes me to a page that shows Betty and Gene in the kitchen sitting at the table. Betty and Gene look very serious. Gene is in a suit and tie. Betty hasn't looked this bad since she found out about Don's cheating and kicked him out. The episode is titled "The Arrangements". Why not a funeral? Yes, that's my guess. But I am trying to be light about it. It's so hard to post when it seems there is always someone waiting to tear apart your every word.
I don't know what page you start out on . I would be curious to know if anyone else is seeing the same photo I see. But be brief, this is for talking about the opening sceneplease.

My guess for the opening? Don's at the office reviewing Peggy's Bacardi ads with Smitty and Paul. Next scene, Grandpa Gene talking with Betty in the kitchen. He recognizes that he sometimes slips some gears.

Oh, I noticed Alison (Ken's chasee at the Nixon vs. Kennedy party) is Don's secretary now. Congratulations, Allison (Alexa Alemanni) It wasn't certain before but the Ep 4 preview makes it clear.

I'll bet that Sally got locked out of the house by Gene and the cop was making his rounds and saw her, stopped and asked why she was on the porch. Believe it or not, cops did that back then. Especially with kids.

Betty's in the kitchen when her water breaks - she snaps at Sally to clean it up while she calls the cops for a ride to the hospital...

Sally's supposed to go to a birthday party but Grandpa drove off in his car 4 hours ago and nobody's seen him since and Betty can't fit behind the wheel of her car, which pisses her off even more so she locks Sally out, which is where we find her in the opening shot.

I'm betting Sally waiting on the porch will be the opening scene. Grandpa Gene was supposed to take her to dance class but he forgot. The police are bringing Gene home because he was out shopping and could not find his car and they found him wandering on the street.

I think the title, "The Arrangements" refers to the plans the family has to make to take care of Gene. I'm sure Matt will tie in Peggy's Manhattan apartment hunting and other actions that need "arranging" as well.

Well Hobo...I regret that my exchanges w/ SJ annoyed you to the point of comment. As I said in an earlier post (7:47) sometimes I'll stand up to a bully and sometimes not. I made a conscious decision, upon reflection, to not let a unwarranted ugly remark (directed at me) to pass.

As for staying on point, it was not I who first strayed, and I stand by my remark of 4:16 which I hope you will take the time to read. I ask that because I respect all that I can know of you in this milieu: your demeanor and your opinions.

Here's my go: episode 2 began with Peggy, Sal, Ken, and Harry watching the Ann Margaret clip; episode 3 opened with Peggy, Sal, and Harry auditioning women for the Ann Margaret role in the ad for Patio. My guess is that episode 4 will open with Peggy, Sal, and Ken at the office working further on the Patio advertisement.

Yeah, Allison (Alexa Alemanni) is Don's new secretary and she was the one who "threw herself" at Harry...the chase scene. Coincidentally, this actress keeps appearing on my favorite shows. A few years ago, I saw her on "The West Wing" and then she was a murder victim on "Criminal Minds" and now she's on my current favorite show. I noticed her because I think she has a very fresh, stunning look. I wonder if she will get involved with Don.....
