Move to Cali
Now I'm kinda new to Mad Men so I bought both seasons to help me catch up with season 3 and I was watching the episode where Don and Pete fly to LA and I personally think to shake things up the writing staff should move Don & Family, Roger/Jane, Sal & Peggy should move to California into a new Sterling Cooper office set up in LA kind of like what Weeds did for their 4th season and that was so much better because its an entirely different atmosphere. And they can still be Mad Men because let's face it - who on this show is actually happy?

I can't see the move to California because I think part of the whole MM mystique is Manhattan and the whole ad man environment of the '60's.
However, I would love to see Don break off and start his own agency with the people you mentioned...even to include Pete. I think the Brits have really thrown a wet blanket over everything at SC. Don needs to get outta there, IMO. That way we could see the old favorites, like Roger, get a run for their money. Don was really disgusted when they lost the Madison Square Gardens account (thanks to the British head office)...and now they want "Ho Ho" and Jai-a-Lai?? History will prove that nothing could be more idiotic about that decision.
Like you, I believe that Don is California dreamin and has been for a long time... All this PP&L drivel is wearing him down and the irritation w/ Roger is palpable....
How can this be resolved??? Like @Jolie,I feel that the thrum of the city is an important background beat of the action... I believe that Betty would pack in a heartbeat but others would be like fish outta water... Pete is held up by the pillars of his birth, what advantage could they offer on the west coast?? Peggy is a Brooklyn kid who has dreams of her own, is still attached to Ma and sister, at least for now.. I don't see her longin for long distance that extends farther than Manhatten.
