He's back because this show attracts a very high boomer demographic and speaking as a boomer: "We likey!" That and some other minor issues like business or plot development. Maybe he'll take a shine to Joan, or Peggy, or Sal. As they say in England: He's "posh totty."

I think he is back to do a six month (do I have the timeline right?) perusal. The cost- cutting measures are in place, Pryce has been there overseeing accounts, re-org, etc. I suspect he will keep Bert on as adman emeritus, properly-connected New York scion, but ask Roger to take a more limited role day-to-day and perhaps only even show up for Board Meetings...(I think that is the deal with the tease in the preview of Roger saying "Bye Bye Don") sort of commiserating/relating the story of his now new limited agency connection. I think Pryce gets sent back home and “Sin-jin”Powell (love how the Brits pronounce St. John!) appoints a new man (not Don) to be CFO. I hope the new man/woman (wouldn't that be fun... a woman boss, but highly unlikely!) is more interesting, and brings a fun, sexy new persona to the office

Well, I think St. John Powell is coming back to get another look at the redhead in the office. Let's face it, once Joan kicks Dr. Rat to the curb (or shoves him off the top of the Empire State Building...my personal choice for his demise) who else is there for her to turn to for comfort? Plus, she just might get a nice big promotion out of it, say, to the TV department. A little pillow talk in the right ear could do wonders, especially now that she has to know marriage to the rat doctor was a huge mistake.
