And for wasthere:

OMG, zabadu, that's hilarious.
And so like those cheezy CORONET instructional films of the 1960's, with that constant squirrely music in the background.
Poor dogsbody Peggy! She's the MM character I'm secretly rooting for. I'm touched by the way she hasn't exactly had The American Dream handed to her on a plate.
As an aside, I hope those of us Maddicts who relish those cheezy CORONET-type instructional and industrial films have discovered the online, free FILM ARCHIVE, with its wealth of retro delicacies from the MM era.

Thanks, Zab, that was quite amusing. Loved the announcer's voice and the background music.
@Rasputin - I have a whole book on Mental Hygiene films. They are hysterical.
Now that was hilarious!
Thanks, Zab....
And ras, those old films are soooo funny (even though they didn't originally intend them to be, of course)
....I esp. enjoyed mocking...er, watching.... the one about the "dating do's and don'ts"!
Thanks!
(ras, you might think abut re-posting that link you posted a while back for that film with the boss having major trouble with his "female employees" They kept leaving to get married and he just had a bitch (!) of a time with them...heee) I thought it was hilarious!
I found it....if anyone missed it back there, here is the link....funny stuff, ras...Damn that Brad!...and the American Woman clip is like June Cleaver/Donna Reed!

That is hilarious! It brings me back to elementary school and the special "young women's" film clips we watched. Who remembers sanitary napkins worn with belts? Is there any thing more uncomfortable? I think not. It was called, "Growing Up and Liking It", brought to us by Modess.
SCfan-- I just watched the Avon perfume film. Good stuff, thanks! My mom used to be pretty skinny, so she had a few outfits that were similar to those in the social gathering scene. Lots of brocade and silk for fancy do's if you were wealthy, but otherwise, what-- rayon?
Have any of you ladies tried Avon's reintroduced fragrances through The Vermont Country Store? There are two my grandmother used to send us in cream sachet form-- "To a Wild Rose" and "Here's My Heart". I remember liking the former and hating the latter.
As far as "The Trouble with Women" film, I think Brad was complaining about absenteeism due to the monthly miseries of womenfolk, perhaps?
@Zabadu: Thanks, Zab, for always being so considerate. And did I hear the man say "Mad Men" can be seen on Wednesdays at 11 o'clock on FX? If so, 11 a.m., p.m.?
@Fifty-Two: I remember those Avon scents from the early 1950s. Avon may have been new then?
Probably so, fifty-two...Brad has his hands full with those gals, no? (kidding! since I am one)
I used to love Avon's "To A Wild Rose" and also "Sweet Honesty" and some others I can't think of right now. However....as I posted below that link in that original topic ras posted, in the Avon film: if I used that much "home fragrance" my sinuses would plug up and my nose would explode off my face!
wasthere, not sure when Avon started...I do remember my Mom and I enjoyed when our "Avon Lady" ~~ "Lois" ~~ (!) would come ("Avon Calling"!) and show us all the new goodies....and leave free samples!
Jannette...God, do I ever remember those belts and napkins...talk about uncomfortable! (Watch out, the guys on here are rolling their eyes, don't blame 'em, I guess) and that old film (we received an accompanying booklet to keep after viewing it) "Growing Up and Liking It".... they made the boys leave the room...wonder what the name of their "Growing Up" film was??
Jannette, since you seem to be one of the Maddicts who do not condemn "off-topicness", I will repost a link from a buried thread of a month or more ago...apologies for not posting it under your recent "Bad Motherly Advice" topic! hee hee
Fletcher's Castoria ad from 1941 (all who have read it already, skip)
http://www.boingboing.net/2008/08/07/youre-a-bad-mommy-19.html
Apologies to all the anti-off-topic folk....but, it is funny! (And technically it's not off topic at all, since it's an ad!)
Also, please read the comments below the ad....hysterical.
Dear SCfan,
Very funny. I love to look at old ads and catalogs. They are such a hoot. My mother would give all of us kids Ex-Lax every Friday night after we got into bed. I hated it and would hold it in my mouth until she left the room. Then I would take it out and put in behind the hot water register in my room. She could never figure out why it didn't seem to work for me. Eventually I was found out when she moved my bed during spring cleaning. I never got away with that again.
And about those that complaion about off topics, relax. Is this show not about the past? The reeason it has become so popular is that it brings back so many memories. I'm sure that the fan base is predominately 40+. I can understand how someone much younger would not be able to relate and only see just the characters and the story that is right in front of them...Just everyone take a deep breath and go to your happy place.
LMAO!
Monty,
Thank you for your concern. You will be happy to hear that the answer is a "no".
I've never ever seen (or thrown) a "laxative tantrum," thank God.
Also, I am glad (for Mary's mom's sake) that Mary "sputtered all over the carpet" BEFORE and not after she gave her the Fletcher's....
