Betty Blocked the Soul of Her Home

don and betty are doomed - she blocked the soul of her home with a hideous couch and then we can presume, fantasizes about another man. this might be the final straw for me - i have always wanted to see don and betts work it out - not sure i want to see that anymore - bring back rachel menken!

Don and Betty are just like modern marriages, its so much easier to find happiness outside of marriage than the fix the one you are in

They may indeed be doomed, but I found Betty generally sympathetic in this episode. Don SHOULD have told her about his contract and I loved her lines in that conversation with him. I'm also glad that teacher called him out on his predictable smooth talking. Actually, just in general Don got pwned this episode - and it was satisfying to watch.

It doesn't take a decorator to see that couch was ALL WRONG for that living room! I wonder if it will stay there. It would probaly look ok in the bedrom. Will Don say anything about it?

Betty has no soul, so that was easy for her.

I loved the decorator's explanation of why people flock to Betty:

"People gather around a fire even if there isn't one."

I liked that she bought the sofa, in that it symbolized her independence from Don and the decorator, although I agree that it's all wrong for the living room.

That sofa is so sexy, it's the perfect metaphor for Betty's blossoming awareness of her sexual needs and the fact that her sessions on the couch may be doing some good after all.

An affair with a man is far superior to getting her needs met via the washing machine spin cycle.

fifty-two: Thanks for that. I couldn't figure out the metaphor, but that is so true. Sad!

The sofa would look better in the bedroom.....otherwise it is grotesque! I thought Betty had better taste than that. Weird!

Betty didn't block the soul of her home. She blocked Santa from coming in with gifts for the children she doesn't seem to like much. She does like the baby though.

Don could tell Betty where to put the fainting couch. He told the decorator where to move the furniture to.
