…..That was one of the most fascinating things I’ve read in a long time…..What an amazing family dynasty.

Many times, I’ve elected to become familiar with a country’s history from a slightly different angle, through its culture, language, music and dance, which are inevitably inseparable.

The perspective of those telling the stories through those various media who themselves (or their ancestors) were there….. and this is no different. If you ever want to get a serious grip on Cuban history, reading this book, and studying this family and its business is one very interesting (and reportedly more accurate) way to do that.

I don’t have much time now, and have gotten lazy about extracurricular things, but this really made me want to read the book. It is also fascinating (and heartening) that the beneficent Bacardi family entertains plans to once again be an influential force in Cuban society.

The Bacardi ads from the 20s, 30s and 40s were gorgeous, and very RACY!!
