A Wish List for Episode 6
1. More of Joannie and Dr. Evil. Maybe they'll have a big argument and she'll call him out for out not telling her about his problems at the hospital. I'm scared to see what will come of it, but we need to see where they stand
2. Peggy continuing to push for higher status at SC, and shoving Paul the Poseur to the side as she does so. Maybe she'll make a splash with the Bacardi campaign.
3. Betty actually being motherly! Hopefully she'll find some happiness in the new baby. I don't know if I can stand to see her going through post-partum depression.
4. Roger realizing that the grass is not greener with his new wife - that honeymoon cannot last forever!
5. As I wished for last week, I'd like to see some character development with Ken. He has about as much personality as Barbie doll's plastic mate.
Episode 5 was pretty great, but what else would like to see next week?

Freddy Rumsen dropping by.
Yes, AA! Since we've had Duck come back for a scene, I'd like to catch up with Freddie too. I hope he's landed on his feet, and I'm sure he has more songs to play. :)
Yes! I want Freddy back too, zipper and all!
@Hanna: I'd like to see Paxsi (Patchy?).
What happened to Father Gill?? Watching The Fog for some reason made me want to watch A Night To Remember again. Father Gill was big in that episode. I just wanna know what went on with that, especially after the finale of last season, him pressing Peg to confess, etc.
I want to know what the heck is going on with Joan and the handsome but hated Doc......I think we will get more of a piece to that puzzle next week.
Oh and more of the Gay Smith guy...he is too much.
Every time someone says "a night to remember", I always think of the movie by that title about the Titanic!
I want to see a scene involving shopping for clothing in Manhattan. I don't care which character!
fifty-two. That's an interesting idea - more of everyday life and style from 1963. I remember when Betty went grocery shopping in season 1 (where she met up with Helen Bishop and slapped her) and I loved seeing what a grocery store circa 1960 looked like.
Maybe in a couple of episodes Betty will go shopping for clothes to fit her post-baby body.
I hate to admit it, but I'm starting to itch for some hot love scenes! Need to see Don and Betty nuzzling in bed together, or something. I'm starting to get bored. . . .
Oh, and more gay sex for Sal, please.
I too would like to see some shopping as well, but with Betty running into someone... like Midge or Hot-older-guy-from-Derby-party (somehow) and striking up a conversation.
I'd like to see Bert's digs one of these days.
I'm also hungry for flashback's to Don's early days at SC and how he met Roger.
My wish list, please spread it out over the rest of this season and into next season.
Out in California, the original Mrs. Draper will die and thereby cause Betty to discover who Don Draper really is – sending her over the edge into insanity.
The wedding of Roger’s daughter obviously won’t happen (much to Roger’s relief)
Roger’s new trophy wife will leave him after discovering he had an affair with Joan
Sal will be accidentally ‘outed’ by a client (but won’t lose his job)
Pete &Trudy will finally adopt a baby – unknown to them, it’s the baby Peggy gave away
Joan will leave her husband after he’s arrested for attempted rape of a patient at the hospital (like Roger, she’s more interesting single)
Bert Cooper will semi retire and accidentally join the hippie / anti war movement – he’ll invent the ‘peace symbol’ in season 4.
A new client will recognize Don from when he was Dick Whitman.
Peggy will date a semi-famous, up & coming politician who is known by everyone (except her) as a skirt chaser.
Ken Cosgrove will publish a ‘Tell All’ article in the New Yorker magazine critical of the advertising industry
Bobbie Barrett will be found dead in her hotel room and Don will be a suspect in her death
Cheers~
Hard Marker
Dr. Evil.. When he yanked the cord to the vacuum cleaner..
That was a clue that he's a hack, er, quack . Does he know Duck?
I'm dying to see Freddy Rumson make a comeback. My name's Freddy and I'm an alcoholic.
The movie, Days of Wine and Roses , was released in December 1962.
A middle aged business man, in NYC? Classic example of someone who would have joined AA.
Ken Cosgrove... His character needs more screen time. Flashing his new watch just ain't cutting it.
Harry Crane.. Either have him burst out with something spectacular and fantastic or kill him off.
He's a schlub. His wife is cute.
I can imagine Harry, in his undershirt, drinking a beer, trying to watch the baseball game , with his child making it impossible for him to do so.
He'd yell at his wife, she'd say, "I'm with him every day."
Harry likes it at work, because he's a bump on a log., a knothead.
Sally, when the time comes, will run off to Woodstock with Glen Bishop.
Don wants to do something with cars.. In California...
Joan... At a California Surf Party..
Jane Sterling at a surf party.. runs off with a surfer after taking Roger for half of what he has.. Moves to Hawaii and has 7 children.
Bobby Draper... always ignored, throws himself into his studies and becomes a bigwig at Bell Labratories.
Wow, there are some really amazing, creative ideas here!
Realistically speaking, in Episode 6, I'd like to see how Bobby and Sally deal with having a new baby brother. Sally's rebellious "please pay attention to me" behavior is already getting out of hand. She's not going to be very happy about getting even less attention from Mommy and Daddy. This is morbid, so forgive me for that, but I wonder if Sally might try to hurt the baby.
Long term wish list? I've been *very* curious for a long time to see some flashbacks to Don and Betty dating, maybe their wedding, and the early years of their marriage. I'd be interested in seeing scenes from Betty's childhood as well, like we have of Don's.
Is an actual potential love interest for Sal too much to ask? May not be historically accurate, but it'd be nice to see him have a real boyfriend someday. Despite what happened with the bellhop he just doesn't seem like a casual sex with strangers type of person to me. Yet from what I've read about urban gay life pre-Stonewall, random clandestine encounters were more the norm for men at this time.
Jane eventually leaves Roger for a younger, even wealthier man. Karmic justice is served.
Joan gets a divorce. More about Joan's background. Showing how/when she first came to work at SC.
Some kind of an update on Glenn Bishop. He's getting close to 13 years old now, correct? Would be interesting to see him as a teenager. I can't wait to see Sally as a teen someday too, hopefully!
Also, is anyone else besides me wildly curious to see how the British Invasion in 1964 will affect everyone and everything on MM culturally and aesthetically? The music, the fashion, the fads, the drugs...
1. More drinking and smoking.
2. The school teacher doing another drunk dial to plan a secret meeting with Don.
3. Paul without a political stand - shave the beard and pitch the pipe.
4. Ken taking a swing at Pete this time - Pete's whining is enough to make anyone go postal.
5. Don at the office and not at home - Betty's whining is enough to validate Don's affairs.
5. Roger and Mona - there's got to be a war going on there that we need to see.
6. Peggy putting on her big girl panties and going to work for Duck.
7. Seeing Freddy and Duck working at the same agency.
But Drink&Smoke, if you took away the political stances, the beard, and the pipe, what's left of Paul? The TigerTones and some grass? Sorry, I couldn't help it. :-)
I would like to see a good Paul and Joan interaction, though. I wonder what he thinks of Dr. Evil. Paul must look more attractive to her now.
Yes, Drink and Smoke - More Mona. Let's see what she's up to lately. I hope she starts seeing someone richer than Roger. Roger could run into them at a restaurant, as long as Roger is on business and without gold-digger Jane.
Oh, I support anyone taking a good swing at Campbell. But I don't know if Ken will do it, he's been so zen lately. Pete would have to do something godawful if he were to bring Ken to that kind of rage. And maybe Peggy can kick Pete a couple times too.
Hi MsDMAC!
Joan's husband raped her in Don's office last Season, that is why we despise him so much. He seems like an abuser, and back in the early 60s I don't think people had a clue about domestic abuse.
Hi Drink & Smoke!
Yes, we need to see more drinking and smoking!!!
I'm hoping the smoking materials will be more of the, (dare I say it) cannibas variety.
A return, somehow, of Rachel Menken.
Something to wipe the smirk off Roger's face.
Continuing "sightings" of Gene. Ryan Cutrona did such a wonderful job. He's gone too soon.
Absolutely, bluegirl, more on Joan's background. There's so little we really know about her.
Did anyone else notice that gay Smitty is back in episode six? He is sitting there, next to horny Smitty, as the announcment is made of the Brit CEO coming...Sheesh, the way Pryce and Money Penny look it is the Queen mother herself!
Hanna-- The scene between Paul and Joan on the steps of the office after the Election Night party was sadly sweet. I don't despise him as much as some seem to. He had some growing up to do when they first dated, and perhaps they're both sadder but wiser? Could be a diverting future plot path.
Peaches--But my good woman, you simply must admit the English HAVE been rah-thah outnumbered of late, eh what?
I feel some measure of pity for Pryce. He seems a decent enough chap. Moneypenny is both obsequious and over-reaching. A real Uriah Heep, if you ask me. Be 'umble, Johnny, be 'umble!
Fifty two, yes, they have been outnumbered but they did absorb SC becuse they wanted a holding that gave them clout in America. If what we have seen of them is their version of advertising, I see many Popeil pocket fishermen type ads in their future!!! t
The Uriah Heep comparison of Money Penny... er uh Mr. Hooker is spot on and very, very funny! I know people abbreviate that they laughed out loud, but I really just did. Thanks fifty-two!
All Pryce seems to be to PPL is their advance hatchet man.I actually think Pryce is creepy and a bad judge of character. Once he does his damage, they will send somone else in,hopefully better looking and more interesting.
I'd like an episode that's all about Joan. We know she was with Roger - but for how long? We know she was with Paul - WHY?? We know she settled for Dr. Rapist, probably becuase that's what she wanted when she was younger, or was supposed to have wanted. We know she had a roomate that "loved" her too. She's smart and can be discreet when she wants to. She seems to have read every magazine about manners; how to be a good hostess, etc. She identified with Marilyn Monroe.
I want to know more!
Hey Don-- it's the middle of June! How about trading in your grey suit and hat for some bermudas and give us a clue as to who's mowing your lawn? Get out the grill, hit some grounders for Bobby. Better yet, take the kids to the pool to give Betts a break! ;-)
"In the good old summertime,
In the good old summertime,
Strolling through the shady lanes,
With your baby mine,
You'll hold her hand and she'll hold yours,
And that's a very good sign
That she's your tootsie wootsie
In the good old summertime."
.....Well, Duck is back, so where are Freddy and Chauncey?
@kk: Yes, more Joan would be good, Don with a new interesting woman... (NOT the Maypole Miss Farrell), but so would more of the real office work too. I have loved all the personal, sexy stuff about the show, but also enjoy seeing how their work days unfold, client interaction, work related nights out, office politics, etc,. I can wait a while until I see more Betty, Sally, Gene, for now. I actually think that Joan is going to be big in Ep 6, and that Paul may even play a role in helping her. More Ken/Kitty/Sal, a really juicy way to ditch Trudi since the actress is now on a new sticom. Maybe she has an affair with publisher boy wonder and leaves Pete!
1. I want Joan to announce she's pregnant!
2. Roger to break up with the wifey, go out to drink, then find his way to Joanie's place only to discover she is being abused by Dr. Husband again. Roger to the rescue!!
3. Peggy and Pete to go on a business trip together.
4. More of Sal! I miss his wit, and we have yet to find out what happens to his marriage on the rocks.
5. Ooh! And I also want Sally to catch a glimpse of Gene, then tell Betty and have Betty not believe her but then wonder about it. If he's still alive, it should be Sally who discovers him first!
I want to see music that is more true to the era. This season so far has been weak music wise. I totally lost that whole sixties vibe when they started playing over there at the end of one of the episodes. I know recognizable stuff costs a lot to license but it adds more to the show. I want to feel like I am in 1962 or 63.
I also like it when they play lesser known songs that are still authentic to the era.
I have to agree about the music. There seems to be more obscure music and fewer popular pieces from the era. There's been some folk music (usually when Don's thinking about his past as Dick Whitman, and that does fit) and some classical instrumental stuff this year, but not many chart toppers from the '60s. I love it when a piece fits a scene in a cheeky way - the scene where Peggy grabs the Relaxacizer at the end of the day to the tune of "Fly Me to the Moon" was nothing short of brilliant.
Hi DryM.!
I think Freddy and Chauncey are "drying out" together!
Chauncey never could hold his licker...get it...licker!!!
I am going away now!
Betty sees Don talking to Miss Maypole at the liquor store and accuses him of setting up an assignation. When in fact he turned down her offer to discuss how a girl of Sally's age handles grief. At Miss Maypole's home. Very privately.
We finally meet the woman from Random House Bobbi mentioned. The one who told Bobbi about the "full Don Draper treatment."
Kitty and Trudy meet at Sardi's to discuss why neither is pregnant. Ken's there to meet a client who doesn't show and joins them.
How do we know the new baby is really Don's and not the guy Betty has sex with in the back room of that bar ?
Absolutely, MM needs more period music! We need at least a little taste of the wonderful girl groups, doo-wop, Motown, Brill Building sounds before Beatlemania hits!
I totally agree @hanna, that "Fly Me to the Moon" usage was classic. I also enjoyed it when they used "The Twist" and "Let's Twist Again". Got chills when "Telstar" played in one of the California episodes last season. I adore that song, it's so evocative of the era, and was SO perfect for the moment-- Don on the airplane after his Judgment/resurrection moment, rays of sunlight streaming in.
