Top 10 Concerns of Maddicts Between Seasons 2 & 3
To all the contributors to the AMC Mad Men website: thank you for keeping this blog so interesting. My last official post, dated May 4, 2009, tipped off official Season 3 start date of August 16, 2009 a good month before the official announcement (see http://blogs.amctv.com/mad-men/talk/2009/05/season-3---augu.php) I apologize for the empty topic yesterday.
Enough with the preamble. Straight from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, the top 10 Concerns of Maddicts Between Seasons 2 & 3:
10. Why can't they show reruns of Season 2 at a reasonable hour?
9. What happened to all of the other creative, funny people that used to contribute to the blog?
8. Why does the advertising on this web site mysteriously change in response to my thoughts and words?
7. Who are all these new people and haven't they ever watched this show or are they just AMC employees?
6. Why does AMC insist on taking two minutes away from the greatest show in the history of mankind?
5. Why doesn't (insert "Mad Men", "Matt Weiner", "Jon Hamm", "Elizabeth Moss", "I", et. al.) get the respect he/she/I deserve(s)?
4. Why am I always being viciously attacked by those whose opinions differ from mine?
3. Why do they have to show commercials?
2. Why am I ignored by the AMC staff response to my constant inquiries?
And the number one concern of Maddicts between seasons 2 & 3 is . . .
1. When does Season Three Start?

Greetings Polar Bear,
I'll take question #1.
Hello Polar Bear!
#9. I joined this Forum approx. one year ago, and admit that I did not contribute regularly during the off season. When the Season 3 fever hit me (around the time my Season 2 DVD set arrived), I was very happy to rejoin the Maddicts on the Forum. I was pleased to see that some of the contributors were names I recognized. There were a few who kept this Forum alive I'm sure!
I wish there wasn't such a long stretch of time between seasons.
#4. I'm sorry if people have been attacking you. Overall, I find the people on this Forum open to all opinions, very bright, and very funny. I was a child during the time period MM is set in now.
I am a "history nut", and I have learned so much from MM Forum members who were teens or adults during this time.
#2. I have never made a request directly to AMC, but, when I forgot my password, I emailed Clayton Neuman. He responded quickly, gave me the password hint word I needed, offered to reset my password if needed, and to let him know if I needed anything else.
Enough from me...hope you will hang in there and keep contributing.
Hi PolarBear!
#9 - I'm one of the people who dropped off the TalkBlogs after the season ended, but I'm back in anticipation of season 3. It's so good to find so many of you still here chatting away.
#10 - For those of you who get OnDemand, MadMen Season 2 is now up and loaded, free. And - no commercials!
#1 - Season 3 starts Aug 16th.

See #5.
9. What happened to all of the other creative, funny people that used to contribute to the blog?
Sure they will be back.
8. Why does the advertising on this web site mysteriously change in response to my thoughts and words?
This is the state of online advertising. It is tailored to certain key words.
7. Who are all these new people and haven't they ever watched this show or are they just AMC employees?
At the moment, they are largely AMC employees, but real Maddicts are slowly coming back.
5. Why doesn't (insert "Mad Men", "Matt Weiner", "Jon Hamm", "Elizabeth Moss", "I", et. al.) get the respect he/she/I deserve(s)?
The bad blood has its roots in Matt’s contentious contract negotiations for Seasons 3 and 4.
4. Why am I always being viciously attacked by those whose opinions differ from mine?
You are by no means alone in this. To be here means being exposed to that phenomenon. It’s the law of the internet.
2. Why am I ignored by the AMC staff response to my constant inquiries?
It’s arbitrary, but it seems that many people trying to communicate are similarly frustrated. Strikes me as a lack of accountability.
Hidey, Polar....
Dear all: These questions were supposed to be rhetorical. I do appreciate your answers.
Some additional concerns.
With the time jumps what if they recast the Draper kids? I really can't stand the idea of anyone but Keirnan Shipka playing Sally.
With the Nixon v. Kennedy as precedent (pun intended) will we get back ground stories about presidential elections about every other season? (BTW can anyone think of an interesting story that takes place with Johnson v. Goldwater in the background?)
What kind of transition would the show make from early to late sixties? If the JFK assassination has been done too often what does that say about the events in 1968?
And a personal one, if I am this wrapped up in the show now, and I might not be able to watch the show during the original airings what will it do to me? Will I be able to resist being spoiled.
I heard that Bobby has been replaced with a new actor. Sally stays the same -- yeay!
We'll all be back, as soon as we have new episodes!
Welcome back, mcmere....long time no post....glad to read you!
