Thinking about Season 3. . . .
With less than four weeks to go, I've been thinking a lot about the characters I hope make a come back, and those who I wouldn't miss. I'd love to see Freddy return, and it's always interesting when Rachel Menken-Katz and Glenn Bishop re-enter the scene. And if Mona is back in any way, that will make for some great drama. As much as I love Mark Moses, I really don't care to see Duck again (unless he's living on the street and sees Chauncey walk by with his new family). I also wouldn't miss Arthur from the stables.
Who are you hoping to see and who are you hoping to miss?

.....I'd have to agree with your choices, although I did find Duck to be an interesting character, because he's so conflicted, even if he is the reason for Freddy being fired. I still say that was tragically unfair.
I'd love to see Jimmy Barrett return, and have a hunch he will, but don't think I want to see Bobbie again.
Somewhere in there, Joan changed apartments, and Carol does not seem to be in the picture any longer.
Don't think I want to see Dr. Greg the rapist again, but I'm sure we will.
And if they don't bring back Kurt (what a breath of fresh air) and Smitty, and Anna, I'll be VERY disappointed.
The Roger Sterling - Jane Siegel combo not working for me. Since one has to go, you can figure out my vote.
.....AMEN, Lindy!!
Jane, yes. . .she has to go! Team Joan!
I want Freddie and Mona back and Jane, Arthur and Glenn gone, gone, gone.
I hope we see no more of that annoying priest, unless he shows up to tackle Peggy's sister, but that would still be annoying, 'cause I don't really want to see any more of her, either...or the backside of her husband....
I really want to see a much stronger focus on the men and women actually working at Sterling Cooper. How is Harry doing with the TV department; is Hildy still Pete's secretary; what about the girls on the switchboard, specifically Lois? How are Pete and Peggy managing to work in the same office without Pete coming unhinged?
If Sal does not want to come out, and feels threatened by Kurt's obvious lifestyle, will he try to bury his true feelings by having a fling with one of the women in the office? Does Lois still have a crush on him?
I hope Jane gets dumped, and I hope, as she is being shown the door, Chauncey walks back in. (I know it is childish of me, but I have always been a sucker for dogs - one wag of the tail, and I'm a goner). As much as I enjoyed Mark Moses' work as Duck, I really don't want to see any more of him. He irritates and saddens me all at the same time.
Last of all, I want to see something good happen for our Joan. I want to see her smack the stuffing out of that rat doctor, for starters, and then make Roger remember why he loves redheads so much. She should make him give her the job in the TV department. Harry and his roommate should love it.
Also, I do not want to see anymore scenes at the stables. I am tired of watching Betty get her jollies on a horse, not to mention the mean instructor woman and creepy Arthur.
Matt W will decide. Assuming the sale of SC went through, there will be some additional recurring office characters. Personally I would much prefer to concentrate on getting to know the original office family better, holding introduction of new recurring to a minimum. I would sure enjoy seeing more of Hildy and Lois for example, as well as Kitty and Harry's wife. The dynamics of Roger torn between Mona and Jane could be most interesting. Whatever it takes to see Joan in slacks with her hair loose is fine by me. If Don Draper were to provide the rapist a similar "education" to that received by Jimmy, I will be pleased.
Assuming Betty did give birth, I assume we will see less of her riding. I can deal with the loss of the horses. Based on the heated phone conversation I assume Sarah Beth and Arthur are history. I have always enjoyed Francine and Helen Bishop, so I hope to see Glenn mature.
Obviously it will be fascinating to see how the fall-out of the separation impacts Sally Draper.
Clearly we also need to see more of Anna Draper, perhaps with her piano student.
If Pete and Trudy divorce, then time spent with her family can be devoted to characters who interest me more. I would like to see Pet's mom, brother and sister-in-law again.
Bottom line for me is I will watch, record, re-watch and totally enjoy every subsequent episode of MM.
.....Forgot to mention Bert Cooper. Simply would not be the same without his kooky presence.
.....I keep thinking that they HAVE to bring Mona back. Without her in the picture, Roger has no moral tether whatsoever, and could potentially spin right off the deep end. Which would be entertaining, of course, but I like Mona a lot.
Truthfully, I never cared for the character of Margaret (no offense, Elizabeth). They can send her to college or married life, but she doesn't add much, in my opinion.
Some days, Helen Bishop seems very reasonable, and other times I really wonder if she is dealing with a full deck.
I mean, Glen was gone for, what? Like three days?? And she didn't come looking for him before Betty finally called her? How is that even possible?
I thought it was very funny that Glen told Betty in the parking lot that day that "My mom and dad said I can't talk to you."
Hypocrites!
The only way Glen's father knows Betty is when he was screaming and pounding on Helen's door, and she witnessed the whole thing, but wouldn't talk to him or help him.
How this makes her a villain in his mind amuses me, because people really do project their own deficiencies onto other people, so portraying that seems very realistic.
Id personally like to see Eliot return. he and Salvatore seemed to have such good chemistry in (the hobo code) episode. Id love to see him run into each other and maybe start having a relationship. X )
I want Duck back so he can account for Chauncey, and putting together that deal with the Brits using Rogers personal information. I want him exposed!
I want to see Pete pulled right in to this too, so Don can see he wasn't doing him a favor. It would be nice to see Joan to reflect back to the way she treated Peggy and take a good look at Peggy's progress and what she has to show for all that switching and swaying...carpet burns!
Glen needs a father figure around so he won't become a serial killer. It would be nice to see Betty have a better relationship with the Bobster (Bobby).
It would be nice to see Jane and Mona have a confrontation with Roger present. It also would be nice for Mrs. Draper #1 to meet Mrs. Draper #2.
I know wishful thinking. Whatever happens bring it on!
Hope Jane is not back...sick to death of her manipulations!
Also, sick sick sick of Arthur...what a smarm.
In addition to hoping the main bunch is explored more deeply both in the office setting and at home, I hope they delve into exploring the characters of Anna and Carla more fully -- and also finally give us some home scenes with Roger...maybe all alone and forlorn (after Jane takes him to the cleaners)...then Mona can give him a hard time for awhile -- before getting back with him (eventually) and we can then see some of their home life.
I, too, never liked Margaret, Dry, don't care if she comes back at all, same for Duck...he gets on my nerves while I feel sorry for him at the same time...wouldn't miss him if he did not return at all. Also, Pete's mother is a major pain (even though she's supposed to be, I know) so I wouldn't miss her.
Agree with z....want good things for Joanie...I'm tired of her being mistreated! Maybe a nice "The Graduate" type scene would be in order: Joan's wedding taking place, and Roger bursting in (divorced from Jane already, of course) to rescue her...running to get on a city bus and all....nah...too melodramatic....
I just can't wait for whatever happens...getting entirely toooooo anxious....!
.....I cannot imagine having someone as lovely and wise and lady-like as Carla in my home, every day, and having to relegate her to some employer-employee, social back-burner.
No idea how they handled it in those days, but thank goodness these are not THOSE times.
SCfan.....Pretty sure Pete's mom is already dead and has been reanimated, possibly a number of times.
As far as Roger and Joan, God should deliver her from the likes of Roger.
She's tough, but everyone has a breaking point, and I feel she is nearing that juncture, sooner rather than later. She deserves a happy, BS-free union.
Zombie-Mom! I wouldn't be one bit surprised....
I'd like to see Joan give it another go with Paul. She's able to call 'em as she sees him... she'd knock all his pomposity right out of him and he'd be sexy and endearing.
Well, Laurie, one thing's for sure...judging by that scene after she and Sal performed his play (Nixon Vs. Kennedy) Paul would be all for it...he carries a torch for Joan the size of the one in the Statue of Liberty!
He said the meaner she was the more he liked her....or something like that.....after the incident over the badges for the California trip, that torch must have been blazing.
Yes, Paul is pretty much a goner when it comes to Joan, I think...no doubt her admirers at SC (and just NYC period) are legion.
I wonder who the guys were who offered her the "several" engagement rings she claims to have been offered....Paul was probably one.
