Nothing for January or Christina? What a snub! They are so terrific and so deserving. I am very happy for Elisabeth M., but gracious what a disappointment. This is just wrong, wrong, wrong.

user-pic

Yes, Zerelda, especially Christina. Not to use a bad pun, but Christina totally "embodies" her character. Kind of like life imitating art - as Joan gets passed over in SC's media department, Christina is ignored for an Emmy. Not fair.

user-pic

Have mercy! I though for SURE that January Jones would be nominated. Her evolution of Betty was amazing in S2.

@zerelda on July 16 8:19 AM...

Well said. Agree, agree, agree.

Agreed...wrong as it gets....everything posted so far.

What can the voters be thinking???!!

Sheesh

Infuriating.....

.....16 moos, I mean nods (sorry, watching the small TV) isn't bad.

Okay, don't flame me, but I really thought Jan's name would be thrown into the ring for Season 2.

I realize that "Peggy" was meant to be the "break-out" character for the series, but January had such a very special few moments in A Night to Remember, amongst others.

She really channeled some of the heretofore unknown "deeper waters" of Betty, and it was moving and impressive to watch her take a potentially two-dimensional Barbie character to a subtle, internal level, turn it around and channel it back out in the way that she did.

Some interesting info about the season are starting to surface out there, but I won't be posting anything like that here.

.....Really? I just think that they want to make sure Jon and Lizzie get their awards before anyone else who is in line from the show.....just a guess.

They'd better get their awards this time!!!

You said it, Dry!

or....Heads will roll!

damn it!

user-pic

Not saying not happy for the ones nominated, I couldn't be happier for them. It's just that there are such glaring omissions, that's all....

user-pic

I was kind of hoping to see a nod to "Maidenform" for writing. I suppose it wasn't as sensational as the other episodes, but it was so full of those awesome Mad Men slow burns. Duck falling off the wagon, Pete and Peggy's Clearasil power struggle, and Don really starting to spin...subtle plot stuff, but I just loved that one.

user-pic

.....HomeRun....."Slow burn....." I like that.

You're right.

user-pic

Wasn't that something, Dry? I've never seen better acting than January's in ANTR ... no makeup ... stripped down to her soul..leveling with Don (who was still in "fool her at all costs" mode -- typical!) about her feelings and hoping against hope to "connect" with her husband somehow .. no luck, of course, Don was still in his compartmentalize /liar mindset... and you could ultimately see the resignation/frustration all right there on her unadorned (but still beautiful) face. I've never felt sorrier for anyone (Betty) in my life! And, I've never wanted to strangle Don more than right then!

...compartmentalized/liar mindset....

Hey! Just noticed Jon Hamm is up for TWO Emmys:

GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES:
Alan Alda, "30 Rock"
Beau Bridges, "Desperate Housewives"
JON HAMM, "30 Rock"
Steve Martin, "30 Rock"
Justin Timberlake, "Saturday Night Live"

user-pic

.....So it's not just me - he was really good there too. The guy is funny, but a wry funny.

He's wry. I'm Dry.

Sigh.

user-pic

.....OMG - was that a Haiku just now?

Ding!!

Time for martinis - 'bye!

user-pic

Very, very witty, Dry. Haiku at its best.

user-pic

.....Oh Sandy Sandy Sandy.....nobody knows the trouble I've seen......

Stormy Weather........

.....Daddy had a thing for Lena.....my direct opposite......

I hope he wins both.

I have to agree that the JJ snub is awful. Didn't these people watch A Night to Remember??

user-pic

It's just wonderful John Slattery is nominated!
