When does Season 3 start?

I only ask in case Dry M or Drink and Smoke or anyone else is looking for an excuse to indulge in the first drink of the day. SCfan, care for one of your special ice teas? Holotta, I bet there's a pineappe and rum drink with your name on it, along with one of those cute little umbrellas. I think I would like one of those pineapple drinks myself - I will even take it with the rum. I've put off drinking alcohol long enough - I am 59 years old for heaven's sake - time I found out what the world looks like with a glow on! Let the party begin....

.....Season 3?.....Hmmmmmmm.....I hadn't thought about it.....

z.....Tink!

Where has Drink&Smoke gotten to?

(Pardon my bad grammarizing.....)

user-pic

Party -- Party -- Party --!!!!

= - }

And, here comes a tray of some assorted indulgences!

Sent over to our table by a certain Mr. Sterling and Mr. Draper! (Mr. Sterling uses Mr. Draper "for bait" dontcha know!

Wow, let's all fight over these goodies...there's a few Long Island Iced Teas (dibs!), some Gimlets, a Rob Roy or two (Sal loves them so!), some Old Fashioneds (Don orders them frequently, I've noticed), some Tropical something-or-others just for z and hollota, and even some boring old Gin and/or Vodka Tonics! -- oh, looks like there's some Martinis thrown in there in the middle.....

Any preferences left out??

Thanks, guys! Come on over and join us for a drink!

Wink Wink!.......; - ]

user-pic

Your guess is as good as mine, mwood4d.

Have a shrimp puff and a Gimlet...might as well.

psssssst....I think Mr. Draper is looking in our direction....shrimp puff, Donnie Boy? Dry made them herself.

.....The real question is, what network will Matt sign with for Season 5 - ha ha!

user-pic

Not much on TV worth watching tonight and I don't want to start Kill Bill I and II - I'd be up too late. So, we are faced with the age old question AGAIN. But this time I can understand why Z is asking. Any reason for a P-A-R-T-Y, right?

If you don't mind I'll just jump in here and join you.
SC please stop grinning at Draper - haven't you ever seen a tall, handsome, masculine - oh, wait a minute...keep on grinning, I think he's headed this way. If he tries to walk by, Dry, stick your foot out and trip him. (I'll have a Moscow Mule in my copper cup, thank you!)

Some people, well, actually my sisters, think I am nuts when I tell them that I love the Kill Bill movies - both of them. I don't know what it is about them, but they just grabbed me, and I am not a fan of the whole martial arts genre. I thought Uma Thurman was totally awesome as The Bride. My favorite part was when she was buried alive, and we got that whole flash back to her training in China. The final confrontation with Bill/David Caradine was romantic and suspenseful and very satisfying. My only quibble with the whole series was when she left the trailer with Bud dead and Elle flailing around screaming about her eye - why didn't she take the money with her? But that is just me.

I am usually not happy when the same movies are shown over and over again, but every time Kill Bill 1 and 2 are on, I have to watch, if only just for a little while.

user-pic

Well, Mike's Hard Lemonades aren't a bad way to loosen up during the summer or on a golf course. My favorite drink of choice. At least, less lethal than the double Manhattans I used to order. LOL

user-pic

Hey, Jamm! Love your pic!

And you DON'T look like Ruth Buzzi (like you posted once!)...to my eyes, btw!)

I've tried those Mike's Hard Lemonades...kind of like Hurricanes...they seem harmless, until you start to feel faint! ha

user-pic

You remind me of Jamie Lee Curtis (that's a compliment!)

user-pic

SCfan aw thanks! My hair was cut this week, and the stylist really went a little overboard. I dont' wear it quite that short, but it's okay. I took the pic one-handed in the bathroom last night, LOL! Kinda hard to do.....

Yeah, I've been toppled by Mike's, all of a sudden it hits you....whew! Luckily, it wears off pretty fast.

user-pic

Anytime is a good time for a drink. I have perfected Don's favorite, the "old fashioned" with a little help from Esquire magazine. http://www.esquire.com/features/drinking/most-popular-mixed-drink-0609

Think I'll have one now!

default userpic

making me thirsty.

user-pic

My word, DoubleDon, that was so elegant a description of an Old Fashioned it even made me want one, and I don't drink. I just might buy some lemons and make myself one - if I don't like it, I am sure the husband will drink it, especially as I will be using his booze.....

user-pic

Just think - 2 1/2 months, at least, until MadMen starts! Well, at least it won't be a problem trying to stay at home to watch it and miss going away for a week or two. It doesn't really cut into the summer too much.

I still miss Don's cheatin' ways to tell the truth. I loved his philandering with Midge and Rachel. Sorry, that sounds so awful, but his marriage was so awful and tense. Maybe Don and Betty will be swingers this year or be the Doublemint Cheaters or get divorced, and be on their merry ways. Divorce started happening alot when the swinging sixties took over - I think.

user-pic

Okay, I'm new in this forum and have to ask.... WHEN does Season 3 START? LOL plz I'm begging, does anyone know? Really?

user-pic

KZTink Sometime in August.

user-pic

Oops, sorry about the name JZTink, but I CAN spell.....

user-pic

Ugh! That stinks! There is nothing, nothing, nothing on the tube ..... 300 channels might as well be zero! Hence the reason why we are online chattering....yada yada yada LOL Thanks for the info Jamm54 ;-)

.....How nice to know I'm not the only Tarantino fan. Yup, them'z us.

I started with Reservoir Dogs which still might be my fave.

Then there was born Pulp Fiction, which made the whole thing officially funny, combined with a heart attack and a Capital "F."

Then, there were the Kill Bills, and I kind of thought they took it all a tiny bit too far with a roomfull of screaming, de-limbed predators/victims.

Deliciously derivative of movies on the subject, but a tiny bit overdone.

user-pic

Re: the Kill Bills, yes, indeed, Dry, honey, they took it way over the top, but for me they had to. I am no lover of gore and violence, and seeing all those flying limbs and Uma tossing bodies around on the end of her sword - well, it is just so clearly and outrageously a comic book come to life that I enjoy every minute of it. There was no reality to the films at all, and had there been, I could not have watched past the first scenes.

The anime portion of the film that tells the story of O-Ren Ishii is also a particular favorite. Another big plus for the Kill Bills, for me anyway, is the sound track - the music is great.

Uma Thurman should have won some major awards for these two movies - she was just wonderful, in my opinion.

user-pic

.....z.....Of course you are right.

Okay, you hold the popcorn, and I'll claw at the air.

Deal?

user-pic

It's a deal, and your popcorn will be safe with me, as I can no longer eat it - well, I could, but not without wanting to die the next day. It is hell getting older. Perhaps that is why I am so taken with The Bride - I want to be young again - young and golden and able to kick butt like she does.....

user-pic

.....Not in MY WORLD! Everyone kicks butt! Popcorn for everyone!!

HA hahahaha!!

user-pic

.....Sorry.....Going to the happy place now.....

(Har.....)

user-pic

I don't know, ladies, I really like "Pulp Fiction", but I just can't get into the "Kill Bills". I don't mind violence and gore (in movies or books; I love the Coens' movies and stuff like "Goodfellas"), but I just don't get "Kill Bill". I'm with you, Dry, a little overdone. It seems too much like an in joke that most of us don't get, the Japanese kung fu stuff and all; I'm too old, I guess.

user-pic

Well, rozsie, I guess Rog and Don just sauntered right on past us....damn...must have seen some better pickin's across the room....or maybe we looked too drunk to even flirt with....phooey

...cradle robbers!!!

Isn't that just like a man! (double that, since there's two)

oh well, pass the snacks!!!!

And barkeep!....another round on the tab of the guys who sent us the first tray! (that'll teach 'em!)

user-pic

Yah, SC, I saw them, but Dry was supposed to trip Don...guess she was otherwise occuppied. One little Moscow Mule just smoothes me out...glad I didn't have any LI iced tea. Tried that once down at the beach...but that's another story for another time. If we just hang out " 'til closin' time", maybe we'll "look" better. lol

I spent Wednesday night watching Kill Bill one and two. I first tried to watch it on TV but always missed the beginning so, it didn't make much sense at all. My son had the DVDs so I borrowed them. I loved the comic book character of it all. The colors were so bright - when (****) went to her first rendezvous. I especially liked the "master" with his long white beard, mustache, etc. Loved how he was able to leap and spin in the air. Darryl Hanna amazed me - I didn't recognize her at first. Interesting, too, that Michael Parks played two entirely different characters. I agree with you, Z, about the music. Tarantino and M. Weiner seem to be very creative in that department - choosing the right music for the right scene.

I'm so tempted to buy the Kill Bill soundtracks but my credit card is now paid off ... maybe if I drop a hint or two someone will surprise me at Christmas.

Keep the snacks coming SC - Wait a minute...isn't that Sal coming this way. I'd love to talk to him about that cigarette lighter...

In the cool, cool, cool of the evening, tell 'em I'll be there,
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening, better save a chair.
Oh, when the party's a-getting a glow on, and singing fills the air,
In the shank of the night when the doing's are right,
You can tell 'em I'll be there.

user-pic

Mambo......Ditto.......if I do say.....

SCfan....Good gracious!! Calm down m'dear!

And also, you are the crazy funny one in this equation!

user-pic

I haven't seen the "Kill Bill"(s) at all. I'll keep an open mind until I do.

But, they sound like something that's just offbeat enough to make me like 'em!

user-pic

Dry....well crazy anyway.....

time for an Old Fashioned....let's toast to Don Draper who is now hard at work (he better be!) under the hot lights learning his lines, etc. to entertain us later this summer....

Go Don Go!!!!

default userpic

I would LOVE to join you in a drink...is there room in there for both of us? Mango tequila is my latest passion - you have to special order it from your bever. company. Ask for Last Mango from the Margaritaville bottlers. It's to die for. Sweet, cool and very smooth.

Well, heresy, folks! Tonight they are advertising Breaking Bad as "the best show ontelevision" !Puhleeze...I want to register a formal protest. As soon as I sober up a bit I shall write a strongly worded letter..(HIC.).

user-pic

...not only that, flower....but JH was ROBBED of that Emmy.

Brian Cranston is ok...but, really now....there is just NO comparison!
