Blow ill wind, blow away,
Let me rest today.
You're blowin' me no good, no good.
Go ill wind, go away,
Skies are oh, so gray
Around my neighborhood,
And that ain't good.
You're only misleadin' the sunshine I'm needin',
Ain't that a shame.
It's so hard to keep up with troubles that creep up
From out of nowhere,
When love's to blame.
So ill wind, blow away.
Let me rest today.
You're blowin' me no good.

So, ill wind, blow away,
Please let me rest today.
You're blowing me no good, no good, no good.

.....Love that!

user-pic

Love that Frankie!

Thanks for the link, Dry, and the lyrics, z.

Funny, I was just on lastfm.com listening to some of Frank's, Nat's, and Dean's songs....sooooo beautiful.

user-pic

......"and that ain't good....."

user-pic

Dry, do you "got it bad"..????

user-pic

Blow Frankie, Blow! That's real Smmooth!

user-pic

ringa ding ding!

user-pic

....I was blowin' the blues last night.

I took some delight in this, straight from Sinatra himself.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

In the OTHER words of our dear departed Drink&Smoke, "Cheers!"

user-pic

Where are you, Drink?

Don't ya love us no more?????

sniff sniff

= - (

user-pic

Since we're buzzing about Frankie, here's an oldie but goodie....so applicable, I have to say, but we all know that...go Frankie go.....

Dry and SCfan, you know I will always show up for a Rat Pack dialogue. ;o) Nice links to Sinatra. I guess that is why they called him "The Voice". My father thought Bing Crosby was the best singer that ever lived. We would argue over the Rat Pack and Bing all the time. He would win the argument every winter when White Christmas would play on the radio. I guess That's Life, huh? Cheers.

user-pic

.....D&S.....Seems there was some talk of competition amongst the best singers of that time.....

Harry Connick, Sr., Perry Como, Sinatra, Crosby.....

user-pic

JMO, but, Frankie, Perry and Dino top the list.

Soooooo mellow and classic.

user-pic

Oh...and Nat, of course....he goes without saying....so smooth and soothing.

Mona Lisa Mona Lisa men have named you
You're so like the lady with the mystic smile
Is it only cause you're lonely.....

Are you warm are you real, Mona Lisa...
or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art...

(I was almost named Lisa because my mom said that song was popular for a time during her pregnancy with me and she thought it was pretty....but she ultimately chose another very '50's name for me...which I like better than Lisa, but, I do have a cousin who is named that.)

user-pic

Well, thanks a bunch, SCfan! I've had that song ("Mona Lisa") running through my head for days. Finally got rid of it (Patsy Cline's "Crazy" had taken over), and now, after reading your post, it is back! Good thing I like it, hmmmm? Best thing Nat King Cole ever sang? I'll have to ponder that - what do you think?

user-pic

Woops, z...so sorry! ha

I hate those ear bugs, too!! I get them all the time... my most recent one was "Sweet Dreams" by Patsy C. (you and I must have both caught that showing of it recently with Jessica Lange and Ed Harris??!!) that one only just departed my brain last week....oops, now it's back....oh well....

Nope, "Mona Lisa" isn't THE best Nat song to my mind...that honor would go to "The Chrismas Song", seasonal though it is....classic and so great I don't even care when it gets stuck in the ol' brain cells...love it love it love it...."Unforgettable" is a fine one also....ol' Nat was hard to beat.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright......

Nat, your voice was velvet....sigh

sorry folks if that creates even more ear bugs.....!

user-pic

Hey SCfan, let's not forget "Route 66" - The Mother Road. Nat's version can't be beat. Interstate 40 caused the song to die, but nostalgia is bringing it back. People are traveling from Chicago to L.A. by way of Route 66 again. They want to remember what it was like to take it slow and enjoy the journey. ;o) Cheers

user-pic

.....Well, now I just feel like crying because who could choose???

Why do we have to choose????

user-pic

.....Oh, z, please do not disparage the great Patsy Cline.....

Once, I was unconscious after a traumatic head injury.....I swear I woke up in a cold sweat thinking the angels of heaven were regaling me with a song......

I believed the angels of heaven were singing to me, and I was dead as a doornail.

Turns out it was just Patsy.

Yet here I be, as florid and obnoxious as can be.

What do you make of THAT???

user-pic

If any human ever had the voice of an angel, it would be Patsy, Dry....

D&S, you are so right about Route 66, love that song by Nat. The Mother Road cuts right through Oklahoma and there are a lot of cool things to see all along it. Go to pops66.com and see the neat diner in Arcadia, OK right on Route 66, cool place....there is a fizzing sound right when you first get on the site!

Another good one by Nat is "Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer"

He had soooo many wonderful songs....not a bad one in the bunch.

user-pic

That site doesn't show the giant soda bottle with straw but there are pics on google and flickr.

user-pic

If anyone's interested, while you're on the Pops site, click on the Okla Travel Net area and go there, then click on The Oklahoma Film in the right lower section of that site....you just might be impressed.

user-pic

.....also, the Oklahoma Rising area (right there with the Oklahoma Film deal)....if you like Vince Gill's singing, that is (you either love him or hate him) just a little dittie he composed with Jimmy Webb for our Centennial a couple years ago. Very talented duo.

stepping down from soapbox now...the mention of Route66 got me going there, didn't it?

lol

user-pic

.....You are serious about this.....I looked it up and it's real.....check it out! Does it light up?

http://www.takemytrip.com/08plains/08_40a.htm

Oklahoma, OK!

user-pic

Yep, it lights up...different colors for different times of the year and all that. 66 Feet tall...get it??

Yes, Dry, us Okies are just full of surprises.

Some of those sodies (Okie talk) are mighty tasty, too! My personal fave (this month anyway) is the plain ol'classic Grape Nehi (just call me Radar!) but there are so many that are yummy (the Strawberry Crush is heaven), too many to even count....and the glass "walls" are lined with shelves full of all of them...it's a colorful place.

user-pic

And, no, I don't live in Arcadia, Dry, for the record. "Oklahoma" is as detailed as I am ever going to get...I've learned my lesson!

heee heeee

user-pic

...the Route 66 Museum in Clinton is cool, too, btw.

Oklahoma Tourism Commercial now concluded.

lol

user-pic

.....Damn, SCfan.....Just when I'd bought my ticket to Arcadia (wherever THAT is!), packed my adult diapers, duct tape, tubing, trail mix, Bloody Marys, rubber ducky, etc., and was getting ready to call a shuttle, get on a plane, fly to Oklahoma, hail a cab, tote my luggage to your house, sneak into your yard in my Ninja suit, and steal every last one of your husband's tomatoes.

AHAHAHHahahahahahahah!!!! (Evil laughter here)

Stop being so wicky-wacky! The only reason I check out anything is if the situation makes me curious.

You are not being stalked, you goofy!!

Anyway, I think you check way more profiles than me, and I think you are better at it, too!

Sorry if I made you so paranoid, but we're not exactly in Kansas anymore, Toto.

user-pic

Well, you're the one always leaking little snippets of what you've "got" on certain posters....LOL

And, I ain't wicky-wacky ~~~~~ I'm looney-tooney!

And you're silly-willy! So there! (have we descended into kinder-land enough yet???)

Damn...my tomatoes aren't even near ready, Dry! Wait til August when I am overrun with them...I'll send you home with a nice big sack full!

Unless you want to come early and help me smash tomato horn worms! Fun!

user-pic

...uh, Dry....what's the duct tape and the tubing for???

user-pic

Duct tape and tubing, hmmmm? Well, I am just glad I always say I live in Illinois instead of Wisconsin, where I really live.....wait, um, Arkansas, yeah, that's where I live, yeah, Arkansas.

user-pic

z, do you want some of the tomatoes when I start to get overrun with them? (it's either feast or famine with those things....)

I can start shipping in Aug.

user-pic

Dry? Oohhhh, Dryyyyyy???.....is the tubing for syphoning gas along the way?

That duct tape still has me stumped......

user-pic

.....Hornworms....Oh those are fun. We have a bunch of the heirloom, crazy-colored hybrid gourmet monsters.

I was pushing for some nice geraniums there, but I got Tarzan of the Jungle instead. Oh well, they are GREAT, as you said.

Anyway, didn't you guys read that story about that astronaut lady who snapped because her "lovah," another astronaut, was cheating on her with ANOTHER astronaut lady??

She packed all this weird stuff, drove across the country, and was apparently going to either kill or severly harm the other woman. Yikes!

Not sure what happened to her, probably in jail or something.

Jeez, I'm pushing my best bad jokes, here!!

user-pic

Oh yeah! That was the chick who wore the adult diapers the whole way so she would not have to stop to pee!

But, that doesn't yet explain the duct tape and the tubing! tell tell!

user-pic

Oh yeah! That was the chick who wore the adult diapers the whole way so she would not have to stop to pee!

user-pic

I was just reading about her on Google...seems they searched her car (after she pepper-sprayed her rival wearing a wig and trench coat!) and found in the trunk: a buck knife, rubber gloves, rubber tubing, and garbage bags! The charge was then upped from assault to attempted murder!

EEeeeek!

user-pic

.....Thank you very much!

(In the words of the Great Elvis P......)

user-pic

.....Holy CRAP. Well, thanks for that research.....I think.....

It sounded so very funny in my head, like so many other things, but now I'm SO not sure about that.....

user-pic

.....That is so much more disturbing than the story I remembered.....

That cannot be good!

user-pic

I would have hate to have been driving by when it was Depends changing time....did she just pull over to the side of the road???

If she stopped at gas stations to change them in the ladies' room, she might as well have just gone in to pee....

such a dilemma, no doubt, to her demented psyche.
