fan de man men
si vous vous retrouvez ici c'est que comme moi vous etes fan, alors ? Heureux(ses) ?

Minic: My high school French is very rusty. My guess is you said something like: "If you find yourself here, then like me, you are a fan ?" I have no idea what the last word is. How bad is my translation?
So, you are a French fan and you are answering the question: "So, are you happy?"
Well, the show makes us happy, but as we are all waiting for the third season, we are now very impatient !
What's more, as I livre in France, I will have to be very, very patient befoce I watch the third season of M.M Bu waiting I watch some classic movies of the 50-60's.

I feel sad because a have watched "Rear Window" with Grace Kelly, I have read some stuff about her, I have watched some photos. But now she's dead, and I feel sad.

"alors ? Heureux(ses) ?" means "So / then ? Happy ?"
heureux = happy, for a male and for males
heureuse = happy, for a female
heureuses = happy, for females
heureux(ses) = a way you write thing(s) rather than "thing and things"
"si vous vous retrouvez ici c'est que comme moi vous etes fan, alors ? Heureux(ses) ?"
= something like :
"If you are here it's that like me you are a fan, so? Happy ?"
hi french fan, you're translation is good, but this sentence alors heureuse " is a quote from a famous french actor, and we use it , I added genders because "females and males" might watch the show
I also wrote in french on purpose, eventhough this is a US show, a US company, I thought it could nice to find out if, like me, some french fans came on this forum, to read and find info, and of course if any of them would have seen the show in its original version
do you have Canal Plus ? the show started sunday 3 may at midnight !!!!!!, 2 episodes, you could watch them again on thursday morning 8.30 !!!!!! I 'm not really confident it will get this show started,
I wonder if Canal Plus is that confident about MM, unless a "great buzz" is made who's watching ?
I think some french fans (I think there will be some) will come and have a look on amc's website, just to let them know they are not alone I wrote in french.
wouldn't it be nice that MM us fans and european fans share their views !
Life in the 60's in the US and life in the 60's in France was a complete different world
ps since you live in France "alors heureuse" is said by Jean-Pierre Marielle, in the film "les galettes de Pont-Aven", this actor has a distinctive voice intonation
french fan, maybe you can help with my question about the martinson coffee jingle !
I also love all the G Kelly movies, I your view who would be the equivalent today ?,eventhough I think she could be hard to match
___"if any of them would have seen the show in its original version"
I don't like to watch dubbed american movies anymore. I try to watch them in english. Not easy because my english is poor (your english is better than mine) but I prefer now. DVDs are very interesting for this reason.
___"I think some french fans (I think there will be some) will come and have a look on amc's website, just to let them know they are not alone I wrote in french."
I am not sure that american maddicts are interesting to know that French like their movies. They already know that ! Everybody all around the world like their movies. Even is we don't like their movies, you are obliged to watch them, and nothing else ! :-D
___"wouldn't it be nice that MM us fans and european fans share their views !
Maybe, but some will certainely dislike that; as in France people are not interesting to know the japanese or the algerian point of view on French movies. Maybe you are proud to be french (Italian, german, or whatever) and you think all around the world people are interesting to know a french point of view, but I think here people are maddicts, and nothing else.
___""alors heureuse" is said by Jean-Pierre Marielle, in the film "les galettes de Pont-Aven", this actor has a distinctive voice intonation"
I remember now.
___"french fan, maybe you can help with my question about the martinson coffee jingle !"
No, sorry.
___ "I also love all the G Kelly movies, I your view who would be the equivalent today ?,eventhough I think she could be hard to match"
I would be glad to find that king of women/actress, but I don't dream anymore, and I don't go to the cinema anymore; because I'm fed up to be disappointed.
Gwyneth (sp?) Paltrow is along that GK line, but no comparison, of course. Not by a long shot. Just a classic blonde is about as far as the similarity goes -- in the current "crop" of actresses, anyway. So sad there aren't ANY of her quality. Saw her just the other day in "High Noon" -- absolute knockout.
Grace Kelly was just about the epitome of grace (!) and elegance to me...just stunning. A fact not lost on Prince Ranier of Monaco, of course!
Still think she was just about the most beautiful "Hollywood" bride ever....along with Elizabeth Taylor (1st wedding).
When I was a kid, I was in love with Elisabeth Taylor. :-)
Today I'm fep up to see agressive and arrogant women. So Grace Kelly looks like an angel.
There are a lot of pretty women, but not many graceful women. I don't how G.K. was in real life, but I like how she was in movies.
J'aime beaucoup, le Mad Men.
But my French is "du trottoir".
After studying French for two years, all I can say is "Pemit me to introduce my Aunt Marie" and "Don't forget, we have your favorite dessert, lemon pie". Unique statements, if somewhat limited in usage.
Regarding the late Princess Grace, she was reputed to have been one of the most promiscuous women in Hollywood... Elle était un femme très actif.

French Fan and Minic, I think it is cool that you like American movies. I love to watch foreign movies myself. In fact last Sunday I saw Paris 36. I really enjoyed it. Also just found a CD at my library called French Cafe. One of the songs is by Brigette Bardoh. I didn't know she sang. I always thought she was very beautiful. Sorry I do not know any French. I took Spanish in high school. I would love to go to Paris one day. Viva la diference (sp?).... bon jour :-)
I am concerned about the American TV shows that are seen in orther countries. If people out there take them seriously, they must think we are really silly. Sex and the City, for example. We know it's tongue in cheek, but can you imagine how that would play in the Muslim world? Probably it would be banned, anyway.
Moi, j'adore MAD MEN, minic.
Je voudrais bien voir cette émission avec le son completement doublé en Français...
About Brigitte Bardot: Yes, she had some big French radio hits in the mid-1960's.
My favorite is the song "Contact", written by Serge Gainsbourg.
Here's the extent of my French (laughable):
Bon soir
Bon jour
Escargot
Pardon
Merci
Fini (that one could be leftover from high school Spanish...me,too, Chelsea!)
pathetic, I know...
BTW, all you French Maddicts are doing great with English I think.
They say it's the hardest language to learn...wouldn't know...it's the only one I've ever known....except Spanish in high school -- 4 years of it -- and I couldn't converse with anyone in Spanish if my life depended on it!...ha
