What happened to Real Classics.

My first love of Classic TV seem to be lost forever, leaving behind movies of actors and producers who are Great at what the do but need another channel to be shown on. I missed the real classics who show a time and place where life was much simplier and even and the clothes was more modest. I'm not saying that Catwoman and Batman Return isn't Great but American Movie Classic should be reserved for those movies which are original and not elaborated on. I love the old Doris Day and Mickey Rooney pictures. I stay up late at night just to catch a glimsp of the old movies and musicals. Don't let America forget their legacy. These people was God's of the movie screen and should not be pushed into the closets because of things we may hate admitting to such as Racism. How are our young people going to know what we are fighting for if they don't have a clue to how it really was. So embrassed the old slave pictures and the movies that only white's was lead in. This way we can assure that we will never go there again.

Try Turner Classic Movies, AMC is aiming for a younger audience-hence, most of their films are post 1968.

I hope AMC doesn't take offense, but their movie line-up leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn't help to have constant commercial breaks, either.

Except for the Godfather I and II, I rarely watch AMC. (Sorry, Clayton, but it's true!)

Yes, if you like "The Hunt For Red October" every day of the world, you'll be happy.....

I like Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin as much as anybody...but, give it a rest....

....It does seem as though they should expand their movie library. (Easy for me to say!)

I can only take so many Rockies and Godfathers (genuflect here) before I start Tourette-ing "Yo Adrian! Ahm gunna make youse an offa youse can't refooz" while sprinting up the library steps to snuff someone with a horse's head, leaving my Tommy gun and taking the cannoli.

Can't say what I think about this new reality show yet....it could be fine if done right. I'd be interested in the dying art of Cowboyhood, but not if it turns into something cheesy and exploitive. Hopefully they will come closer to a good documentary style than the former.

Very curious about AMC's committment to original programming though, and whether they might be moving away from that, at all?

......and you call ME crazy!

Yes, if done right, that Cowboy deal might be fine....

"
It hardly needs re-stating that Hollywood is driven by the desire for dollars rather than artistic integrity. As such, cinema is open to product placement in a variety of forms, from toys, to cars, to cigarettes, and even state-of-the art weaponry (hence the “special thanks” to Boeing in the credits of Iron Man (2008)). Less obvious though – and less well investigated – is how the interests of the studios’ parent companies themselves impact on cinema – at both systemic and individual levels. We hope to see critical attention shifted onto the ultimate producers of these films to help explain their deradicalised content, and ultimately to assist audiences in making informed decisions about what they consume. As we peer up from our popcorn it is as well to remember that behind the magic of the movies are the wizards of corporate PR."

Thanks for the links to those great photos, FF. NYC is one of my favorite places in the world. If the rest of you haven't looked at the pictures, you should.

Frenchfan, I checked out the 60's photo's so of those are amazing. The 1961 beauty pageant ( those hairdo's so MM), playboy bunnies in a tug-a-war, too funny.
Thanks for the link!

Yep, FF, ...JJ is one beautiful woman....it almost hurts to look at her...which makes her the perfect match on MM for JH, of course... aaahhhh...that all looks like one of those "texters".....help...

...like Tina Fey said "Jon Hamm is the handsomest man on the planet... and some remark about having to punch a hole in a piece of paper (like to look at an eclipse!) to be able to look at him because of the extreme handsomeness....so true, Tina...so true.

Thanks for the pics...JJ is spectacular...almost as much as Christina H...but, then again, that's not really possible. JMHO

January Jones's nose is a bit too big but nobody's perfect, and at least she's natural.

user-pic

Kind of like in Sophia Loren's case...all those big ol' features...but the "blend" is what makes her so beautiful...and unique.

No cosmetic surgeon's skill could begin to match what nature comes up with in many cases.

user-pic

.....Sophia Loren is a Goddess. The whole nine yards. (Nine yards of WHAT??)

My dad had a big case for her, Gina Lollabrigida and Lena Horne.

Watching Boy on a Dolphin, or Two Women, or most particularly El Cid, with Charlton Heston, pretty sure you could not disagree.....

.....SCfan....I dub thee "crazy."

Thank ya kindly, Dry!

.....And back atcha!

Do you think any of us will make it til July without being committed?

Hang on!

Only 3+ months to go!

....help.....

how will we ever manage?

I think I see the guys in the white coats coming....

user-pic

AMC Tv in the early 90's used to have more classic movies. I agree with Rozsi that their movie selection leaves much to be desired and the commericals are annoying!

user-pic

You are so right, Chelsea...remember when "American Movie Classics" (AMC) really was?

I'm glad we have them for Mad Men, but it would be nice if they were good competition for the "other movie channel" like they were once upon a time.

I believe AMC was also commercial free at one time, no?
