Volume of commercials

Why do you blast my but off the chair when the normal programming is interrupted by a commercial? This appears to be happening only on AMC...

....Is it wrong of me to laugh at this post? Sorry, but that was funny.

I have the opposite problem - I am constantly turning up the volume for the programs I watch - everyone seems to mumble nowadays, except BILLY MAYS WHO SHOUTS EVERYTHING - the most annoying man on television, and that is saying something.

Commercials, they're the worst, and I even tried to appreciate them since watching Mad Men, but, Lord help us, some of them are just so bad. If they are not hounding us about something our mothers told us it was not polite to talk about, they are trying to get us to ingest something whose terrible side effects take half the commercial just to list. Mostly, I ignore them, as just like death and taxes, they will always be with us.

.....I love Billy Mays. I want to buy absolutely everything he sells.

Also, Vince from Sham Wow is another one.

Like a bad accident, you can't look away!!

z.....Just do what I do - scream louder than the commercials until they are over.

The bonus there is any nosey neighbors you have will instantly begin avoiding you.

Sammy1954...I'm surprised you don't know this one.

They do that so you can hear the TV while your going to the bathroom, fix a drink, etc. As soon as the volume drops it means the shows back on.
I thought this was common knowledge.

If this really bothers you find a commercial distraction and get busy.... I mean besides yellin' at the TV.

I don't know about you but I find it kind of poetic that a show about ad men features advertisements louder than itself.

Though I do think that might be just your television - I've had a few audio problems watching AMC myself but it has mostly to do with crackling audio.

Also, Zerelda, excellent for pointing out Billy Mays. I don't think I've ever seen one of his products advertised on MM recently, so I suppose I should count my lucky stars?

Speaking of Billy Mays (whom I also detest, z), it seems he has his own "reality" series now (Pitchmen) with some other screamer fella and they fight about how to best scream about (sell) a different nut case's new product in every episode. I saw the promo when clicking through channels one night....

God help us.....

It's not just AMC, many chanels blast the commercials. On the other hand, the audio on MM seems bad. I have trouble catching what they are saying sometimes, but not on other shows or other channels.

And I think Billy Mays' hair is even greasier than Don's. I would love to tell him that beards are not good marketing for cleaning products. Notice you never see men with a beard running for office? Not since Lincoln or Grant, anyway, That's because people subconsciously think "dirty" when they see a lot of facial hair. (As in "clean-shaven" when there is no beard?) Look at any other commercial for cleaning products or food, it just isn't done.

.....flower....I have to agree with you there - no way is that guy gettin' into MY house.
"Get the STEAM SHARK!!!:

Dry, will the Steam Shark kill the fleas in his beard? Or just make them angry so they'll fall out and infest the carpet??

What does Billy Mays sell that kills fleas???

user-pic

.....Beware of angry, infestational carpet fleas.....

user-pic

.....Billy Mays..... are you kidding me???

What I'm wondering, Dry is this.....DO YOU NEED A CABINET FULL OF CLEANERS------OR NOT???

Please..... someone.... TELL me!!!

user-pic

.....Ummm......ummmm.......

user-pic

...wassamatter, Dry...did the carpet fleas attack???

user-pic

.....I'm THINKING!!

user-pic

I think he was saying that one does not need a cabinet full of cleaners, although it's hard to be sure....he was so vague and all......

user-pic

Did you notice that since the posts about the carpet fleas (or beard fleas)!...the ads popping up for carpet cleaning??

funny....

user-pic

....No.....I didn't. Wonder what happens if I say "Ladies' Underwear," for instance?

I am disgusted with this.
How did a complaint about the excessive volume of commercials get changed into a discussion about Billy Mays?
