12:00 AM????
Why would they put the re-runs on at 12:00AM,?

Why would they put the re-runs on at 12:00 am ? dont they want us to see them. It makes me furious!
Great question jas495. AMC is not even promoting the MM re-runs, but instead are really pushing their other original show Breaking Bad, which I have not watched and have no interest in.
One would think since MM won several awards AMC would do some ads for the re-runs in order to get more interest going for the upcomming season.
whats wrong with 12am?
Well for one thing, it's just kind of inconvenient and makes little sense for a show of this caliber. I am certain there are probably a couple of nights during the week they could have showed it during prime time. And why not just let us watch season 2 on demand? I am just wondering if this is about making it inconvenient so people are forced to buy or rent season 2...
I think they must be contract limitations by the MadMen production company. They want to protect it from repeat Prime Time viewings to preserve DVD revenues. (And it's certainly not material for daytime viewing.) Either that or they charge AMC an exorbitant amount for airing reruns in Prime Time. (I just record it and watch it the next day.)
I'm sorry but I work full time and have two kids. There is no way that I can stay up that late even for my favorite show. Show some pity on us AMC!
a little news flash... There are people who work the second shift out there. I for one love that they play reruns at midnight because i can watch them. They already showed the shows new eposodes earlyer so why do you care if they show the reruns at 12... there reruns to you anyway.
Another news flash: There are these amazing devices called DVRs. They record programs no matter what time they air. If you can't find one of these, VCRs still work s far as I know.
Why are you coming down on jas495 for this one? There's no good programming on AMC and they could have made it earlier and let it re-run through the week. "Breaking Bad" is sick. It's awful!
While I also DVR the late night showing, I personally think they would have better luck getting viewers for Breaking Bad (a show which I also find impossible to watch, despite good intentions) if they reran MM Season 2 BEFORE not afterward.
There are a lot of folks curious about MM now thanks to the cast visibility offseason so running it in later primetime, even on a weeknight, vs. buried in the wee morning hours of Monday certainly couldn't hurt AMC?

Yeah...I agree...seems to me that with all the awards MM has won (BB has won only 1 I think!) that AMC would showcase it a bit...are they attempting some misguided "build up the interest" thing before season 3?
They would do better to just run the season 2 encores like they did after the first season's "off" time...show each epi twice--- back to back---on Thurs. nights (9---- or even 8pm best!) and then again a few times through the week...I don't understand the big build up for BB...I'm like you other Maddicts...I just can't get into it...and I've tried.
.....We've asked all these same questions before, and it still doesn't add up, in terms of promoting the actual viewership. I get cutting off all the free streaming sites, but why the flock are they still hiding the show??
I gotta tell you, I didn’t even realize that Season 2 reruns had commenced, and missed the first episode!! I’m as plugged in as the next person (okay, I’m really busy), but word of the re-runs somehow never reached me (okay, and I wasn’t looking, either).
Still though……for a crown jewel, Mad Men seems to be getting the cold shoulder. I still get the idea the focus is on DVD and streaming revenues and the rest is either consequential (an oversight?), or possibly even deliberate (the latter of which makes me wonder about the internal relationships). Either way, any bitching about AMC's viewership would be basically unfounded.
Check out this article I saw yesterday about the marketing of Season 1, which was heavy with the television spots….

Curious about the dollar figures attached to the elaborate promotional treatments in New York City.
Also, has anyone else been following the ongoing internal power struggles over at Lionsgate? The plot thickens daily…...

It will be interesting to see how that situation, and the other mini-revolutions happening in media distribution affect the many moving parts, in terms of Lionsgate’s vast holdings, acquisitions and future projects. From what I’m reading, some big changes are coming soon in terms of the way entertainment is delivered, including the possible obsolescence of the DVD.
For the curious, check out this article from Nikke Finke’s Hollywood, posted at the conclusion of Matt’s contract negotiations, which were disturbingly acrimonious……

.....OMGosh.....No one has mentioned how funny Jon Hamm was on 30 Rock last week!
Great physical comedy - like a cross between "Rob Petrie" and Chevy Chase!!
.....Oops.....Make that Nikke Finke's Deadline Hollywood Daily.....
.....Really, Dry? Fascinating!
.....Thank you, Dry, I thought so too. A veritable Pandora's Box of intrigue.....
It really is fascinating, Dry, and so frustrating to read for Mad Men fans. Really makes a person wonder how any quality project ever gets done, and it explains why said quality projects are few and far between. Thanks for the links.
Be careful, there, Dry, you are entering Crazyland/SCfan territory, girl -- answering your own questions!
; - )
I loved the last epi of 30 Rock, too...loved him riding away on that motorcycle...but, wish they'd make him a semi-regular. And I echo zerelda...hope that's true about Calvin Klein's new underwear model....
And I enjoyed reading all your links to articles on MM/Matt W.'s contract goings on, too.
.....z.....Not referring to Mad Men specifically, and not to put the blame in any one place, but this new trend of running a show hot and hard, only to have it burn out quickly seems to be gaining ground.
The first time I remember thinking that was with HBO and the landmark shows Six Feet Under and Deadwood, which both ended prematurely, for different reasons. It was reported that Deadwood wasn't meant to last for multiple seasons (!).....
Now, it seems more often as though a premium cable series really isn't meant to last that long in any case, but more specifically is meant to enhance the careers of all involved, win a bunch of awards and make a ton of money in DVD and streaming revenues, before quickly moving on.
The priorities seemed to have shifted..... am I imagining that?
This all makes me wonder if, when it comes time for contracts again, how hot a property is Mad Men going to be?? Are the same viewership numbers as Season 2 going to be sufficient to carry it through Seasons 3, 4 and 5?
Seems like it puts a lot of pressure on Matt to grab those viewers with the first showing of a season, in the absence of the kind of programming that zerelda mentioned on The Benefactor thread up there.....
Sorry - I'm tired and rambling and probably not making any sense.
Not a business-head, and would have to analyze the numbers, but I guess what I'm saying is, maybe the network viewer numbers is losing importance in the overall picture.
I understand what you're saying, Dry, and yes, you have to wonder how much they really care about the folks who sit down to watch at a certain hour one night a week.
Oh, Dry, how I adored SFU!...went into mourning almost after that last episode...was there ever a better "final episode" in any show??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el4eUKmLujg&feature=related
.....I can't.....The final episode is the only one I don't want to see again, at least for a long while..... Just thinking about it is kind of overwhelming.
Yes! It still makes me cry (esp. that epi)...such perfect acting, photography, writing, the whole bit.
I think it's neat that Claire far outlived them all...made it to 102!
.....Stop! Stop it right now!
O-Tay, 'Panky!!!!!
hee
.....Buckwheat.....Did you start happy hour early today?
Now you've got me thinking about Eddie Murphy on SNL and the "Buckwheat has been shot!..." news story! tee hee
......hic.......
.....Sigh.....The good ole days.....
