Nora, I guess they got bored with us.

Can't imagine why...I think we're very interesting, right guys?

Nora, I choose to believe everyone is waiting to return as the new season approaches. At least, that's what happened between Season 1 and Season 2.

In an effort to keep our group together, I started (and have continued to lead) the monthly Movie Mad-ness thread... keeping it going has been a selfish commitment I took upon myself in an effort to keep us in touch with each other. I don't think it's been as successful as I hoped, but has been a special type of gift in a different way.

I have come to the conclusion that the conversations we had during Season 2 were a unique experience, and one that may not be repeated during the coming season. There have been many new 'flavors' added to the stew, and the tone and commitment to this board may not be the same as it was before. I prefer to remember how grand it was.....

It was a great season of conversation, wasn't it?!

So far, they have been really great threads, and I would like to give cursory awards to Remembering, zerelda, SCfan, Chelsea, and a couple others for the great read, and you for the hard work. (So so sorry I can't be there, but I'm so buried at the moment.)

Thank you all for your noticed and valued contributions. You have all added so much fresh dimension to my memories of the colorful and fascinating movie stories of the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s.....

greytone, you are quite the sage when it comes to leading discussions! We shall hereafter call you "Yoda!"

Unfortunately, this board will never again be what it was last season. Like anything else, culture flows down from the top, and it would appear that we are the only actual Mad Men fans on this website.

Thanks Dry Manhanttan for your nice comments. It is hard to keep coming back with work, etc. but I try to put in a few zingers when I can. In fact I was out with friends tonight telling them about this wonderful blog I'm on and how I feel I have friends out in cyberspace that I can communicate with in this crazy fast paced world we live in. So I do cherish our conversations and will try to keep coming back. Look at what they did in New York by getting together. I mean in this time and age that's quite an accomplishment I think....

Gail Klein was so nice to share her pictures, SCfan is so effervescent, Drink and Smoke with his recipes, Polar Bear is something else, Silverminx is a hoot and Zerelda with her poems and such and there is more and more like the professor with his insights and the list could go on.

(was that a groan I heard/) Jon Hamm is all over the place, I plan to frame the cover of GQ Magazine. He was on the cover of USA Weekend Jan 23-25,2009. Inside there is great picture of him on a big bike dressed to the nines. In the article, he is compared to George Clooney!.

Really? Is there some kind of exclusive thing going on? A clique? Nah, I doubt that. So, aren't all who post on this site (no matter where) called "Maddicts"?

What I would love to see is more attention paid to the Blog,where apparantly, more up to date info is posted for us to comment/recommend on.

Check out the Blog for links to 30Rock and Jon's appearance on Conan Obrien this past week. Jon reveals what the "herbal" cigarettes taste like, and what happened when Tina Fey a load of his "handsomenes" and many other tid-bits that Maddicted types will enjoy a lot.

Oh yeah, I wanted to mention that I never have a problem with using a password to get in here, cuz I never sign out!

The fact is, I was thinking about it, and decided it really didn't matter, because either way you are still the coolest and the smoothest!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I love the fact that you hang out with the girls, so please don't take our Dino away. As I pointed out, the difference is how mellow you are, and completely lacking an agenda other than "Cheers!" which is unusual for both men and women.

@Nora.I posted for the first time in 2 months last week.
I figured after we had our Maddict party in NYC my participation would grind to a halt since the show is off the air till July.
I am strictly speaking for myself here....I don't like to rehash things that have been discussed and dissected a thousand times already. I've enjoyed 90% of the commentary on here and look forward to the regular posters as much as the next person.I guess since MM is in "off season" I've turned away.
I was also really busy the entire month of January(work related) and I'm not much of a cyber chick
Like every die hard Maddict I'm relieved that Matt W's contract is confirmed so Season 3 is a go. Those writers must be plugging away.

I was a "sometimes" poster during the second season. I discovered the show between seasons 1 and 2 and am now a fan.

While I read these comments to keep up; during season 2 I truly enjoyed reading the comments on Monday mornings.

The show just speaks to me in so many ways. In 1962 I was 8 so I guess this show echoes to me because it helps me recall my childhood.

The show appeals to me beacuse I can relive that really wonderful time as an 8 year old. Studying history, I never made the full connection between world events and my life in 1962; through Mad Men, I now have a full appreciation of all that was going on; and marvel how my parents were able to allow me to feel so peaceful and loved. I just hope my children have that same experience as adults.

Besides that feeling; the show is really quite well written and the acting is superb!

I am looking forward to season 3!

Hey - don't forget me!!!!! I can't tell you how much I miss the show. Every week, my body starts to tingle at precisely 9:58 pm Sunday with anticipation of titilation. (Jeesh, I need to get me some ... and soon!) I practically have to take a cold shower when I snap back into reality that Mad Men is NOT ON.

Just came on the forum to post about Jon's gig on 30 Rock and saw this thread. These lulls between seasons are very hard, and like someone else said, I don't really like to rehash old stuff. I do miss all the 'old-timers' posting all summer, but since we haven't had any new developments on the Mad Men front, I've just been coming around to check in every once in a while (a new job has also been keeping me busy). I cannot wait until things start up again and the whole gang is back together in force!

Oh, and I'd like to be added to the MadMen-aholics list!

As for myself, I've been reading the latest of our crazy union, Alan Rosenberg,Prez of SAG, tried to sue SAG and it was nixed. It only caused delays in the negotiations. We are still working without contracts and studios have stopped all production of films and there are very few pilots almost nill. So, I'm here on the site getting all my satisfaction talking to you guys.

WELL, DID EVERYONE HAVE A HAPPY VALENTINES??? WHAT DID YOU GET YOUR SWEETHEART? WHAT DID YOU GET???

I got lots of roses today. I spent the day with my mother and brother. I missed my special Valentines greatly, Papa. But, lucky to have my mom and brother here in California!!!!!!!!!!! Good Night!!!

I got a lovely bouquet of deep dark red roses and carnations with a couple of pink stargazer lilies nestled in along with tiny pink carnations - gorgeous and so sweet of him. Carnations are my favorite flower. I made a double batch of Red Velvet Cupcakes, saved a dozen for my sweetie's enjoyment, and gave some to a neighbor who cleared our driveway and walks of snow while my sweetie was recovering from surgery. I also gave some to our daughter for her Valentine dinner with our dear son-in-law and some to my sweetie's very elderly parents. Then went to dinner at a favorite restaurant where the lights were low and Dean Martin serenaded us while we ate. A lovely, sweet romantic Valentine's Day from beginning to the end.

There were no mishaps whilst preparing the Red Velvet Cupcakes, and thanks for asking. Perhaps making many little cupcakes instead of a whole cake confuses the gods of cursed cakes. That's my theory.
