The Day The Earth Stood Still

How do people rate the NEWER version of the day the earth stood still vs. the ORIGINAL. And how did the movie do at the box office.

I dunno - science fiction is not my fave.

Well, addie, I kinda thought they should have cast JH as Klaatu and not Keanu R. But, that's just me.

I didn't see it, but I doubt if it can surpass the original classic. JMHO

Hi SCfan...is that YOU in the avitar? Very pretty, whoever it is.

By the time I got around to see the new version of TDTEST, it was gone, so I can't compare the two. But, the original was a masterpiece and stands on it's own as a classic. Re-makes don't usually compare favorably to originals. i.e. The War of the Worlds, for one. You know what they say: "If it ain't broken, don't fix it!"

Hi rozsie...would that it was me...it's Colleen Corby, of Seventeen magazine fame.

People used to tell me I looked like her (this was in my younger days). lol

Well, if you looked like her you're very pretty, SCfan. Be grateful - in my 20's I was once told I looked like Ruth Buzzi from Laugh-In, and I don't even own a hair net!

Very flattering to hear, never could see the big resemblance myself. (to CC or Sandra Dee either)

I'd always think...wow, hope it's true and then----why can't I see it like they do? hmmmmmm

I remember reading once when Grey's Anatomy first was on that Patrick Dempsey said he'd stare in the mirror after shaving and ask himself "What is it they see?" Come on, Patrick...you're no troll!

Guess people can't be objective about themselves in looks or anything else.

If anyone is interested in seeing the original movie, Fox Movie Channel is showing it today. I did not see the new version so I cannot judge, but the original had Michael Rennie, a favorite of mine, so I am sure I would still prefer it. Not very keen on Keanu Reaves, but if they put Jon Hamm in Rennie's role, I just might have to change my mind.

I am starting to think Jon Hamm might have been sent from some far away galaxie to see just how susceptible we Earth women are to his charms and how easily we could be taken over. If every man on their planet looks like Jon Hamm, we would be in big trouble come invasion time. Talk about consorting with the enemy, I am there!

"consorting with the enemy"... whatever it's called....I'm there, too!

Take a number, z!
