Hi, Zerelda, Happy New Year!
Trudy said that to Pete after reading a short story he wants to get published. Pete's jealous over Ken's success in getting a story published in "The Atlantic Monthly." If I recall correctly, Trudy said this in "5G."
Zerelda,
Roger said that to Betty in the kitchen of the Draper house in "Red in the Face."
The words struck me particularly because "hot pants" seems so archaic today!
Glen to Betty after she had prepared him a ham sandwich. Btw, I recall that someone speculated that Glen's comment was another cleverly embedded "double entrende" on Glen's feeling for his "rival" Don (aka Jon Hamm).
As we await "hopfully" an answer to the "I feel like Dorothy..." quote, here's another one:
Who said: "Do you want to be right, or do you
want to be married?"
jackie, Roger said to Don, "Do you want to be right, or do you want to be married?" at a bar after they had seen Freddy Rumsen to a taxi in "Six Month Leave."
(Awaiting enlightenment on your quote at the other thread. Haven't a clue!)
@Remembering....You are COR-RECT, sir!! (Channeling Ed McMahon to Johnny Carson, cause I feel silly today; sorry!) (And I know you're not a "sir" probably).
Can't resist adding Roger's next line to Don, right after above one; it was: "I know marriage isn't a natural state, but you do it."
I'll plug in the "answer" (if someone else hasn't supplied it) on that other quote tread...if I can find the thread again. (This site, as Zerelda said, has been tempermental last 24 hours or so. I had thought it was just my computer).
The day Don had his first taste of marijuana at Midge's apartment. She asked him what he thought and he said "I feel like Dorothy and everything just went to color." I believe that was the same episode he realized Midge was in love with her beatnik friend and he signed over the $2500. dollar check to Midge and told her to go buy a car. Basically his adios, sweety.
Nancy, yeah, that line of Roger's is hysterical, and it makes me laugh every time I hear it. I can just see him looking at Alice and her lovely fox neck piece. I was browsing in an antique/junk shop recently, and lo and behold, there was a slightly moth eaten version of Alice's fox fur looking at me from a shelf. I think I might go back and buy it just for fun - I can wear it over my pj's on Sunday nights when Mad Men is on! Won't I look fetching!
Zerelda, wasn't that Joan's roomate, not sure of her name Mary maybe. I remember the commentary in this episode where they said Joan's actions that night when she picked up that guy was her way of letting her roomate know how she felt about her declaration of love.
Another Quote "It does feel a little cloudy in here".
Zerelda - wasn't that Bobbie to Don after "Mrs. Tilden Katz" walked out?
Funny how most of my favorite lines were all spoken by Roger! I keep trying to think of lines to quote on here and just about every one that comes to mind is something he said.
How about: "Life is just one big bra strap waiting to be snapped."
Don said that to Pete in the first episode, refering to his comments about Peggy.
You are correct about Bobbie saying that to Don after meeting Mrs.Katz. I love that Don ordered her Steak Tartar (raw meat) just like a Tiger.
An easy one " So why would you deny yourself something you so obviously want".
jackie,
"My oldest just turned 30; she's had a string of bad beaus--very upsetting." Fred Rumsen to Sal, Pete, and Peggy during the meeting where he had his "accident." ("Six Month Leave, Season 2, Episode 9.)
And btw - Bobbie didn't say that because Jimmy was spraying - she said it because he was being obnoxious (imagine) to the waiter and she figured the kitchen would spit in their food to get even.
I can totally see that. Jimmy is a jerk.
When I was younger I worked in a mexican resturant I use to put jalapeno juice in people's food that were like Jimmy. X-tra spicy!!!
I liked it when Don punched him in"Six month leave" do you remember Roger saying ..."20 people would thank you for that."
Nancy you are awesome, your good. Gold Star. An Art Director would be the most creative to make a passport.
How about"Well I know your not good in the afternoons".
When Chauncey (sweet Chauncey!), Duck's children, and his former wife came to the office, she said they were early because "I know you're not good in the afternoon," referring to Duck's drinking. ("Maidenform, Season 2, Episode 6.)
You are correct. Jimmy did say that at the dinner when they first meet.
I don't remember the woman's name but she was Crab Colson's wife.Everyone ws standing around the dinnertable talking and she wanted to sit down. It was at the dinner Betty had at her house. "For those who think young"S2,E1.
Who said,....."and the next minute I was tap dancing for American Aviation".
@ holo...
Thanks for the episode hint, but I'm still mystified by the "tap dancing" quote. And "Meditations" won't be rebroadcast until June 30th --( if my calender calculations are correct). That's a long wait!
Please some one tell me when the second season of Mad Man is going to be played again - or able to be bought on DVD, I love it.

Very good, Remembering!
Now, who said "You've been making eyes at me all night. You can't tell me I'm not giving you hot pants."
Hi, z!
Roger to Betty in the kitchen when Don went to the garage for the extra bottle of booze.
Poor Roger...how could he know what was in store for him with the oyster/martini/cheesecake lunch???
Zerelda,
Roger said that to Betty in the kitchen of the Draper house in "Red in the Face."
The words struck me particularly because "hot pants" seems so archaic today!
Oops! Sorry, Z and SCfan, forgot to "refresh" before posting!!
Can you guess who said "I feel like Dorothty and everything just went to color". I love that line.
Was that Jane on her first day?
Was that Jane on her first day?
After Jane sat down at her desk she said " I feel like I'm sitting in tall cotton".
Okay, holottawoman, who said it? That's a good one!
Who said: "I really don't like ham."
Hi Nancy, and all...
"I really don't like ham." :
Glen to Betty after she had prepared him a ham sandwich. Btw, I recall that someone speculated that Glen's comment was another cleverly embedded "double entrende" on Glen's feeling for his "rival" Don (aka Jon Hamm).
As we await "hopfully" an answer to the "I feel like Dorothy..." quote, here's another one:

Wow - Midge - I had kind of forgotten about her! I loved her.
I like all the references to ham on this show - Don talking about his dad to little Bobbie ("He liked ham.")
One of my favorite lines: "I'm sorry, I don't know which eyes to look at."
Forgot to add another quote:
"I did everything I could to be near you...."
Yes, 'twas Joan's friend, and considering the way the doctor has turned out, I wish Joan would've hooked up with her instead.
Still thinking about "It does feel a little cloudy in here."
Zerelda - wasn't that Bobbie to Don after "Mrs. Tilden Katz" walked out?

holo...Joy to Don, entreating him to go to Palm Springs with her...Season 2, Episode 11, "The Jet Set."
How about: "My oldest just turned 30; she's had a string of bad beaus--very upsetting."

Don't have a new quote in mind right now. Anyone?
"Hope you don't mind spit in your food."
Bobby said that at the apology dinner for the Schillings. She was talking about Jimmy spraying while he was talking. S2,E3 "The Benefactor".
"You need a fake pasport too?''
Oh, that is SO good! I'm going to have to think about it ...
And btw - Bobbie didn't say that because Jimmy was spraying - she said it because he was being obnoxious (imagine) to the waiter and she figured the kitchen would spit in their food to get even.
I can totally see that. Jimmy is a jerk.

I liked it when Don punched him in"Six month leave" do you remember Roger saying ..."20 people would thank you for that."
OK, so who said, "You need a fake passport too?"
I think it was Sal when Harry needed him to create an envelope to replace the one Ken's paycheck had been in.
Nancy you are awesome, your good. Gold Star. An Art Director would be the most creative to make a passport.

This one is easy to figure out who they are talking to, "I bet little birds hang up your laundry".
Sorry, Remembering you were correct forgot to mention, my bad. That was the only time we saw Duck's wife. That one wasn't too easy.
I think Jimmy said this to Betty when they met and she talked about being a housewife and having two children.
Does this work like the Quote Game?
Who said, "I have to sit down" ?
You are correct. Jimmy did say that at the dinner when they first meet.
I don't remember the woman's name but she was Crab Colson's wife.Everyone ws standing around the dinnertable talking and she wanted to sit down. It was at the dinner Betty had at her house. "For those who think young"S2,E1.

@holottawoman:
...a tough one! I could try and guess...but that's not what a true "Maddict" does!
Ok, hint, this quote is from "Meditations in an Emergency".
@ holo...
Thanks for the episode hint, but I'm still mystified by the "tap dancing" quote. And "Meditations" won't be rebroadcast until June 30th --( if my calender calculations are correct). That's a long wait!
