I wonder where season 3 is also. Anybody know when the season is planning to start?

I am looking for it to. Anybody heard anything?

Although it has been speculated that Mad Men Season 3 will start this summer, this is by no means absolutely certain.

Long ago AMC gave LionsGate the Season 3 order, although LionsGate had not signed a contract with MM's creator Matthew Weiner. By then, based on Mad Men and The Sopranos, Mr. Weiner is an "in demand" writer/producer. Many other studios wanted Mr. Weiner, so the contract talks lasted months.

On January 16 the trade papers announced Matthew Weiner has made a deal with LionsGate for Seasons 3 and 4. It is assumed scripts are currently being written. However, there is speculation some of the key cast members are not yet under contract for Season 3.

How can scripts be written until it is known which characters will be available?

In 2008 the Writers strike delayed script development, but when the strike ended at least Weiner knew all the regular cast was available. Production of Season 2 started by April 1. AMC started showing MM while the series was still in production.

I think you're splitting hairs. It's been announced in Variety and other pubs that Season 3 will be on this summer. Matt Wiener and crew have signed the agreement and it's in the works.

I suppose they'll need to shoot around all those involved in that travelling Mad Men stage extravaganza...seems like I recall them starting the taping of the shows in April or May last year...I think it was Bryan Batt on Martha Stewart saying that...oh well...as long as they're on in the summer, I'll live...just barely, but what choice do I/we have?

July seems to be the month of choice for MM premieres. I wouldn't plan for it any earlier. It definately makes for a long winter/spring of bad TV. Cheers. ;o)
