It's on!!!!!
Weiner's been signed for a third and fourth season. Finally.
According to Variety.com, "Details of the pact were sketchy Friday, but it is said to cover Weiner's services on "Mad Men" for the show's third and fourth seasons as well as other TV development. It also includes a component for a feature project through Lionsgate."

Fantastic!
I guess this means we get two more years (at least) on TV and then a feature film to boot?!
Totally grand! WEEEEeeeeeeee!
I am so, so happy!
My cup runneth over with "Joy Joy and Happiness!" Finally we can live with hope for the return of the finest series on TV.......that has the most loyal and wonderful fans here on this blog. I'll be walking three feet off the ground all day.
.....Lionsgate, AMC and Rainbow Media Holdings (who own AMC and Bravo) have all undergone some major organizational changes in the past few weeks, which might have also been a factor in the delay.
Here is a tidbit from grin's Variety article.....
"It's understood that AMC stepped up to help Lionsgate finance the seven-figure pact with Weiner. The talks were tense at times, as word spread that Weiner's reps were seeking an eight-figure deal and that Lionsgate was inquiring with talent agencies about the availablity of other showrunners."
Thanks, AMC.
.....Another tidbit.....
"In addition to the "Mad Men" part of the deal, the trade says Weiner will also be developing new series projects for Lionsgate TV, as well as a possible feature.

Also, in regard to the cinema feature, the Hollywood Reporter quoted Lionsgate TV president Kevin Beggs.....
"The premise of the feature Weiner will develop for Lionsgate has not been determined but it will not be a "Mad Men" movie," Beggs said.

...and hopefully.........TO MAKE THE SHOW HI-DEF in more cable companies, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!
AMEN! I can rest easy for at least 2 seasons. There is no Mad Men without Matt Weiner - everyone knows that. I am so happy!!
Really - the DVD sales alone would cover the cost of whatever he is asking for financially.
Now we only have to wait PRACTICALLY THE WHOLE YEAR for the Season 2 DVD and Season 3....
Yeah having MW back running MM. Now LionsGate needs to make deals with all the cast.
I have faith all that will happen. To prove this when someone nicely posted the link I pre-ordered Season 2. I have Season 2 on tape, but the DVD are so much better.
Thanks- Grin & D&S, This is the best news I've heard all day. MW deserves every penny, I'm ecstatic. I hope they do a S2 marathon before S3 comes out.
