Best wishes to both our beloved "Joan" played by the ever delightful Christina Hendricks. In real life she is engaged to a decent fellow actor Geoffrey Arend.
This afternoon the TV Guide website carried the good news, so we can believe it. TVG even has an adorable photo of the happy couple.

it is just so obvious to me now that the look of her character on Mad Men was influenced strongly by the actress Edie Adams ... I just saw an old movie called Love with the Proper Stranger and wow do they ever look alike

I love that movie "Love With The Proper Stranger"---it was pretty risque for it's time...Steve M. living with Edie's character and all...and knocking Natalie W. up...complete with an "almost" abortion!
Natalie was soooo gorgeous in that one. And Steve M. was cool and sexy beyond words in it.
Isn't it funny how Natalie was associated with Macy's in it again? (Miracle on 34th St.) just kinda funny Christmas trivia.

I see what you're saying, though about Steve McQueen not being "that attractive"---if you're going on looks alone.
His sexiness is based more on his cool attitude. He just has a sexy way about him that makes him more attractive than he actually is.
But, I heard he was a wife beater (first wife, Neale (sp?), not Ali McGraw...but she may have been beaten, too) so that does take away from his aura considerably, I think.
