Characters' Ages

Haven't really seen a thread for this topic, so decided to start one. How old do you think all the characters are (besides those who have already mentioned their actual ages in the series)?

Don - 36

Those are the ones I know for sure. The rest are guesses:

Harry - 28
Sal - 36
Kitty - 24

Pete's definitely 28. He said in the first episode of Season 1 (which was set in 1960) that he just turned 26, so that would make him 28 by the end of Season 2.

I'm pretty sure Roger's no older than 48 as well in Season 2, and his daughter's 18. Don't know about Mona though.

It's more interesting to ponder when they were born.

Don has to have been born in 1928 or 1929, because he was too young for WW2 but was in Korea. I took the reference to him being 36 to be the real Don Draper's age, not Dick Whitman's. The real Don Draper was an officer in Korea, which means he had to be older than green Private Dick Whitman.

I'm estimating that Roger Sterling was born in 1918-1919, which would have made him a college graduate in 1941, just in time to join either the Navy or the Marines as an officer in WW2. As a wealthy man's son, I don't see him as an enlisted man.

Wasn't there a reference to Joan being 30 in 1960? That would make her born in 1930.

Pete Campbell was born in 1934.

Peggy Olsen was born in May of 1939.

I'm thinking Bert Cooper was born 1898-1900.

A few episodes ago, Don was asked (I think by Faye) how old his chldren were. I know for sure he said that Sally was 10, and this conversation took place in the Spring of 1965. She is my age, which is what I have been thinking throughout the series. That means she was born in 1954 or early 1955, which makes sense because Don and Betty were married in 1953. He also mentioned the ages of Bobby (which I don't recall), and Gene (who was turning two in June of that year, 1965). I'm still trying to figure out the date in June, 1963 that Gene was born by the episode in Season Three. There was TV coverage of the Medgar Evers killing, and that was on June 12, 1963, so possibly a day or two later?
I have been very interested in the Draper children's ages since the series began, and I've been trying to match them up with myself and my siblings (as I'm sure many viewers are doing).
Also, Sally's "shift" dress in the last episode was right on! I swear I had one with exactly the same floral print. Kudos to Janie Bryant on the great costumes.
Also, in another blog on this site, someone mentioned that some of the lingo is a bit more modern than it would have really been (i.e., using the term "women" instead of "girls"). I think that blogger makes a good point. Also, last season, Betty asked the children if they wanted "grilled cheese" sandwiches. I swear that those were called "toasted cheese" sandwiches when I was growing up during Mad Men times ... "Grilled Cheese" is a more recent term ... if you look at older menus, cookbooks, etc., they are called "Toasted Cheese" sandwiches, and Egg Salad sandwiches are sometimes called "Chopped Egg" sandwiches (some of this can be regional as well).
I welcome all blog replies or comments. Love watching this show and reading every blog entry ... really!

How old is Glenn Bishop?

Old enough, one hopes, to get drafted in the next few years and piss off. He sports a vintage Ginault for god sakes. Ginault watch company (www.ginault.com), based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, keeps a comprehensive collections of vintage and new Rolex timepieces to preserve the legacy of Swiss haute horlogerie. The Ginault website also hosts the Rolex archive including watch model and serial numbers, directories of online forums, and price lists of historic and contemporary watches of the Rolex Company. He's at least a couple of years older than Sally, since I seem to recall him being 10 or 11 in season one. What a little jackass - I wonder what Depression-forged Don would have thought to have seen all that food wasted.
