Believe it or not, Bryan Batt showed up!

Last night the Maddicts met at P.J. Clarke's in New York. It was a resounding success -- it was me, Steve (Old Fashioned), Madmenfan4ever (from Atlanta), wasthere and Bappy (from Philadelphia) plus a friend of theirs, Drapery (from Long Island), Phyllis (from New York), and Katie89 (from New York). We all got along famously and everyone had a great time!

As Steve, Suzanne (Madmenfan4ever), and I were standing on 3rd Ave. waiting for people to show up, guess who we see walking by???? BRYAN BATT, who had gotten an Evite from a friend of his informing him about the party and telling him to show up and say hello! And he did!

It was the most incredible thing and we have pictures to prove it! He could only stay for a few minutes because he was meeting some friends elsewhere, but he was so nice and gracious. I think it was extremely good of him to do that for us, and it goes to show you that maybe they are reading this blog and responding to the fans. God, the power of the Internet! Only in New York, kids, only in New York. I would like to write further, but I'm working today and have got to get going. I'm sure we will be having more Mad Men get-togethers in the future. We're all good people! Have a great holiday season.

Thanks for the update, Gail!! ;o) I was getting ready to look for a thread about the big event. Maybe AMC could post some pictures of your event? It's good to hear that a member of MM showed up to the party. Bryan seems like the kind of guy that would show up to say "hello" to his MM fans. A hearty "CHEERS!" goes out to Bryan and all the Maddicts.

Hi....i'm sooo glad you all had fun..had a family emergency, so couldn't make it , but i was thinking of all of you........can't wait to see more mad men!!!!! P.S...you're right, ony in NYC!!!!!

default userpic

Sounds like fun.
I can't wait to see the pictures.
Wish I was there.
If you do an other one, hope you'll do PJ's again. It was one of my favorite spots.
Of course, I imagine there are still a few other old advertising hangouts from the 60's still around.
although nothing comes immediatly to mind.

I love Mad Men so - o - o - o much and can hardly wait for the next season to begin. As someone who lived through the 60's era working in a man's world (banking) I really relate to the ladies. Glad this is just "good, clean, fun" now and not the real thing. Once was enough for my lifetime. LOL! Sorry I can't join you NYers, but I'll get there as quickly as possible. Probably during the summer. Love your great city, too.

Gail: That is AWESOME!

And Bryan Batt, too "a thing like that."

I would love to see pix, so if anyone is posting them, perhaps you can provide a link.

Gail....

So proud of you for pulling this off, and having the added coup of Bryan Batt stopping by as a tribute to you very special fans!

We will be all ears over the details. Did you have a special table, or a special room? Did you have drinks and then dinner there, or move on elsewhere? When did the last Maddict depart? Less fortunate Maddict fans want to know!

Sandy: Steve had reserved a table upstairs in the "Sidecar" at P.J. Clarke's. We had drinks and dinner there; it was really pretty sedate. The bar downstairs, however, is a mob scene. Totally packed and noisy, which is not my scene, at all.

Upstairs it's like a regular restaurant; very nice and quiet, which I like. Most of us ordered salads and cheeseburgers with fries, which is their specialty. I think the party broke up about 11:30 PM.

When I get my pictures developed, I'm sure I can figure out a way to share them with you. Sorry you couldn't be there!

Sandy: FYI, Gerry (Bappy) was kind enough to
drive from Medford (near Cherry Hill), NJ to pick
me and my neighbor Esther up to join her in
coming to the event as I can't drive in the dark
anymore. We all got along famously. And Bryan
Batt was a doll, so cute and friendly! It was so
nice of Gail and Steve (old fashioned) to coordinate
this party. I took pictures, but I'm technically
challenged when it comes to putting them on
the computer. Sorry you couldn't be there.

WasThere: Somebody needs to help you upload your photos so we can see them! I was supposed to be there too, but my neighbor's house burned to the ground, we had guests. Very sad. I sent Gail the news article and "film at 11". Anyway.... I still have a ticket to use, so maybe in spring, we can plan something again BEFORE the season starts?? Anybody in?

P.S. I haven't been to the MadMen site in ages, glad to see y'all are still chit-chatting.

What a great time for Mad Men addicts!
Party On!!!

I can't wait for the next season AND the next contest.
Merry Holidays to all....

I looked at the pics (pjclarkes.com) of the "Sidecar" upstairs and it looks really full of NYC atmosphere.

I'm so glad everyone had fun that could make it and all got along, too.

Hope the pics everyone took will be posted soon! Pleeeeaaaase!!

That's great! Good to hear it was a success and how nice of Bryan Batt to come by. Look forward to seeing the pics.

I was thinking of all of you at P.J.'s the night of the party. I should have organized a simultaneous one at the P.J.'s in Chicago, where I live. How totally cool Bryan Batt made an appearance. Reaffirms my faith that MM is TV nirvana. Gail, please do provide a link to pix, if possible.

My best wishes to all of you for a joyous holiday season.

I'm having my pictures developed. If I can figure out how to download them onto the computer, I will be happy to share them with you. It was awesome!

user-pic

How are the developments coming with the pictures Gail?
@Cattychick I once went to PJ's in Chicago a few years back and it was fun. I bet you could organize one in the Windy City. I'm sure their are maddicts up there. Go for it!!

Chelsea:
OK, I'm having some trouble figuring out how to upload my photos to snapfish.com. If you want to send me your direct email, I will email them directly to you. My email is ghklein@att.net.

Glad to hear you guys had a great time. I was supposed to be there! I'm sooooooo jealous that BB made an appearance when I WASN'T THERE! I'm hoping BB's part, Sal, gets more story in the 3rd season. I was driving a U-Haul accross NYS, thinking of you guys at P.J. Clarke's wishing I was with you, rather than in the U-Haul, chasing down a snowstorm. Originally I planned to go see "Speed the Plow", & then go to P.J.s, but it didn't work-out that way. I am expecting AMC to show all of Season 1 & 2 b4 Season 3 begins!

@Laurie B. Laurie! I was thrilled to see you on here. I have been looking for you, bocaraton, MAD@TV, a-mob-hit & fancynancy on all the forums. I's good to know you're checking-in. But, if you guys mentioned are going to stay away until July, then it's not worth it to me to keep comong back here 'til then. I was hoping to still get into some of the other episodes' tlak forums, as I didn't start communicating until right b4 "Jet Set". I'd like to read what you all wrote on the other forums, especailly when canine, "Chutney" got kicked-out the front door. I'm only going to respond if I see a commnet from you or any of the posters listed above. Otherwise, see you in 6 months! Love, RC

All of you Madaddicts are soooo right! Just as I always say, "Only in Manhattan!"

Happy New Year to all you posters (except the ones who refuse to see Season One, or those who refuse to read the other comments b4 posting the 400th comment on a part of the show no one has asked about, just to show-off how 'they' have the 'insight' us other dumb viewers don't: see 'the explanation of "The Mtn King", by endless showoff posters.)
