Unexpected Comments About Mad Men

I was just watching TV and heard a commentator say that Barack Obama's dress style was considered to be a cross between JFK and Don Draper of Mad Men! Pretty soon, Mad Men will be a "household word"!

That is so great. Mad Men needs more publicity like this to keep it going.

I also mentioned in another thread how MM was cited twice in the November issue of Cosmo. If anyone follows the trends, it's the 18-34 crowd.

But alternately, that's what I fear- that the show will become a trend, the "it" show of the moment, instead of a long-lasting series, which it entirely deserves to be. In order for that to happen, either AMC will have to step up its game or MM will have to be moved to a major network (ABC, NBC, etc.)

What does everyone think of that?

I think AMC deserves to hold on to Mad Men as long as they don't get overly greedy or difficult to work with. If it wasn't for AMC, we wouldn't be having all this fun. And agony and grief, and longing, and suspense.

I agree Laurie B. It is an AMC Original so it should stay at AMC. I do believe the greed has already set in. That's why we are going through Mad Men withdrawal.

I pray the networks don't get their hands on this gem. They destroy everything! This is the era of cable and I hope AMC management and Matthew Weiner are smart enough to realize that and that neither party lets greed and ego get in the way of this soon-to-be-a-classic series.

The Cosmo mentions are great if they get the young crowd to view the show and learn something about their parents' or grandparents' generation. It would be wonderful if they copied some of the fashions, but not the booze and alcohol!
