Maddicts Take Manhattan - Report?
We are all awaiting eagerly the report from the Manhattan Maddicts Chapter on your meeting at P. J. Clarke's! Did you meet at a specific place in the bar? How did you know each other? How many showed up? How long did it last? Did you talk about any of us who could not be there? Tell, tell!

Sandy: We're scheduled to meet on Dec. 6th, Sat. nite at 7:30 PM. We're expecting between 10 -15 people. After the event, we'll be sure to post a "review." I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun!
Yes, Gail, pleeeaase be sure to post any pics, too!
Hope all you lucky Maddicts have a really fun time there in NYC.
Swig down a rye or two for me---"on the rocks", that is how Don takes his, right?
Remember Don ordered an "Old Fashioned" at the bar in "The Jet Set?" I'm sure that Steve (a/k/a "Old Fashioned") will be sure to order one of those. I may have Dubonnet with a twist, in honor of Bobbie Barrett!
On the other hand, I may just stick to my usual glass of Chardonnay (and be like wine-loving Betty, my favorite).
Sorry about the date! I thought it was November 6. At 7:30 on 12/6, I'll toast all of you with an Old Grand-dad and water, which is what I drank in 1962.
There are scads of us out here who would love to be with you.
Someone, please take a camera!!! And a notebook to record the screen names!
Looking forward to the Report!!!
Oh, how I wish I could join you all - sounds like such fun! Somebody drink a gimlet for me - I've never had one in my life, as I am not a drinker, but after the last few weeks, I am ready to start. Besides, Betty had a gimlet and it seemed to work out O.K. for her, hmmmmm? Just what is a gimlet anyway?
Please smoke a few packs of Lucky Strikes and drink several martinis for me. I hope you have AT LEAST three dozen oysters, but skip the stairs and take the elevator. A hearty "Cheers" to all of you! ;o)
zerelda, a gimlet is gin and lime juice but not sure of the proportions.
It's a really simple and refreshing cocktail, I do remember that.
Anyone know the recipe?
Hope to see some of you there on December 6! I might have to pass on the oysters and Luckies, but Dubonnet with a twist sounds perfect - it worked for Bobbie!
Will bring the camera for posterity.

Oh hell, everyone who shows up should just pass around a jug of Ripple or Boone's Farm---do they still even make those brands?? lol
Anyone remember "wine coolers"?--- yuck, but we swilled them down and thought they were yummy---"all those years ago", right?
Hey all, I was just looking up cocktail recipes online and came across a vodka gimlet...it sounds good.
Never much liked gin. Usually would order a Vodka Collins...back when I drank "hard liquor" ha.
Nowadays I'm like Gail up there...I do love my wine! lol
SC Fan: "Wine Coolers!" Remember "white wine spritzers?"
When I used to drink "hard liquor" I would sometimes have a Screwdriver or Vodka & Tonic.
Remember Harvey Wallbangers? God, were they potent!
I've heard of Harvey Wallbangers...what's in them?
I once had a "Hurricane" at Pat O'brien's in New Orleans (1970's) and didn't know what all was in them...I went into a dress shop after drinking one and remember reaching out to look through the dresses hanging there and next thing I knew I was holding on and trying not to fall into the rack! I got myself outside in the air and vowed never to have another "Hurricane" again.
They taste like lemonade...but are definitely NOT.
A Harvey Wallbanger is a Screwdriver with Galliano. Delicious, but lethal.
I am looking forward to our Maddicts shindig but I am going to be selective with what I drink. I don't think an old fashioned will sit well, I don't have a cast iron stomach like Don or Roger.
I'll opt for a vodka tonic or white wine...
Harvey Wallbanger!? Those bring back memories of being a pre-teen and sneaking a sip of one during the adults cocktail hour.My best friends mother used to make those and we'd try to sneak a drink when she wasn't looking.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the notorious "Long Island Iced Tea," a mixed drink with lethal clout! Not for the faint of heart!
Mix equal parts (1/2 oz.) of vodka, gin, rum, tequilla, and triple sec. Add 2 oz. of sour mix and a squirt of cola. Top it off with a slice of lemon or lime.
After imbibing, don't drive, operate heavy machinery, or take the subway. Collapse into the nearest taxi.

Drink&Smoke this is for you!
You know me too well, remembering! ;o) Long Island Ice Teas are one of my favorite drinks. Those babies are lethal and I think they were invented to help us tolerate family get togethers. LOL A couple Long Island Ice Teas and it is definately a taxi ride for me. Thanks for the laugh, darling. Cheers! ;o)

SCfan, you have a way with words! ;o)
Hello, all:
I hate to promote my own posts, but I've done a little theme song for you Manhattan Maddicts to close your P.J. Clarke's meeting with. You can find it under "We Need A Little Christmas Now!"
I pledge all royalties to the good of the Association.
I don't think they make that stuff anymore SCfan. Did you say a gimlet is just gin & lime juice? Whatever it is, it sure mad Betty warm & fuzzy inside! I like that Sandy, it's funny.
I am soooo jealous. I'll be in Chicago, but if I could go I would wear a girdle.
Yes sound's like you will all have fun there.
@Remembering I do remember the Long Island Ice teas. They were so good you didn't know what hit you. Two were the limit.
@Drink&Smoke how do you make a dirty martini?
Thanks.
Wish I could be there. I live in Maine now, But used to work in the biz at Benton & Bowles accross the street from PJ Clarke's in the late 70's early 80's. Always enjoyed the place hanging out at the bar in the front.
Have a good time you all.
Looking forward to your report.
