Why would Don be in Dallas?

Matt Weiner has already stated that he's not going to address the assassination of JFK.

Zebra, you're right! ;o) Weiner is not going to address the assissination of JFK, but will he address the the Warren Commission Report? It will be 1964 (late 1963, maybe?) and on September 24, 1964 The Warren Commission Report was published - the first official investigation of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Remember how newsworthy the Starr Report was with the Monica Lewinsky scandal? Cheers! ;o)

60s chick, Don could be in Dallas pitching the Neiman Marcus account (sorry, I'm a clothes junkie)!

Seriously - I can understand why Weiner would not address the JFK assassination. On one hand, it would probably take at least two episodes to incorporate the gritty film images and encompass the reactions of the characters. It would be hard to avoid the inevitable scene cliches; the secretaries crying en masse, the men heading to the bars, Peggy ducking into a packed St, Patrick's Cathedral, Betty trying to explain the tragedy to Sally and Robert. So many people probably assume the event will be part of an episode, it is just like Weiner to NOT feature it.

On the other hand, we've had references to the Kennedy administration with the election (Nixon's team witnessing Roger's ralphing up the oysters), Joan watching the Jackie White House tour while halfheartedly making out with Doctor Creepy, and of course, the Cuban Missile Crisis. To not include an episode addressing the assassination would be to leave out the characters' reactions to the most significant event of the 1960s in terms of its long-term ramifications. So much unraveled after November 22, 1963. We'll certainly see the characters evolving and coping with the tsunami of change wrought in the 1960s. It's too bad the event that spurred much of that change won't be featured on the show.
