Wasn't Joan married to the Doctor?

In the 2nd Season the episode where Joan is reading the scripts for the Movie Department, wasn't she married to the Doctor? She was so upset that she had been reading the scripts and now someone else was going to do it for pay. I don't think that the pay bothered her as much as her enjoyment of it and meeting with the clients. What has happened to her room mate?

She's engaged to the doc, set to marry in a December wedding. We've only seen him a couple of times, on the first episode of this season (they were sitting on the couch) and in the episode with the scripts when he comes home with take-out for dinner. We don't know what happened to the roommate from last season, Carol. She hasn't been shown since the ep where she hit on Joan.

Joan's marriage to the doctor is supposed to take place in December.

Right now, I think the series is on the cusp of the Cuban Missile Crisis which takes place in October 1962. Surprisingly, (I suppose because it isn't directly pertinent to US society, the Berlin Wall was erected in 1961 - you'd think there would've been some reference of it even in 1962 because it was viewed as such a tragic event).

I think Joan ditched her roommate Carol because of the "pass", and because landing a husband became Joan's sole focus somewhere in 1961. You can't have a roommate interfering while you're auditioning husbands, can you?
