OCT 25 - Jon Hamm hosting SNL !!
Don ..er, I mean, Jon Hamm, will be hosting Saturday Night Live on October 25 !!
It's not on the NBC/SNL page yet, but according to a few googled articles -- and TVGuide.com -- (thanks for the tip-off, samg!) he will be the guest host. I'm so excited I can barely type. I hope they'll do at least one Mad Men-type skit.
Does anyone know ... is the Season 2 finale confirmed for Oct 26? If so, it'd make for a perfectly-timed SNL appearance. However, that weekend will be oh-so bittersweet .....

Sharon, thanks, I'll be front and center on tv on the 25th Can't wait. What are we going to do with ourselves after end of this Season? Will the blogs continue?
hey guys, i'm pretty sure the last ep. is on the 26th.
there are 3 eps.left, this sunday 10/12, next sunday
10/19 & then 10/26. also i think they will be replaying all of season 2 on a weekly basis shortly after that.
Well done, Sharon! Thank you.
Jon always keeps a tight rein on the emotions for Don - very rarely does he let loose. It's going to be interesting to see him silly and not controlled.
Sharon I have marked my calendar for SNL of the 25th. Great! It will be hilarious, I bet they do a take off on MM~ Can you just imagine how they will portray Joan??? Super huge chest.....wow..... Thanks.... and there will be a lot of MM fans in withdrawal after the end of the season, I feel sure there will be repeats.
Casey Wilson would be the closest match to Joan, I think.
Kristen Wiig as Peggy, Amy as Betty and hehe Andy Samburg as Pete.
SNL , lets see ... could it be wild.
Don with huge hard-on's.
Betty completely out of her head searching for evidence against Don.
Salvatore homo-ing Ken.
Peggy and a gigantic FlameRed bangs & ponytail.
Joan 46EE breasts Liquer all over the set.
Roger just out right groping the office women.
But it would be easier to just have Don be Don and sexually harrass everyone.
But we'll see ....
Good post, Mad@TV! I can just imagine what SNL will do with a MM skit - it will be GREAT! Things like:
Betty and the washing machine having a rendevous.
Peggy wearing the Relax-iciser all day in the office.
Smoke so thick you can't see anyone.
Roger smoking, drinking, puking up the oysters, and having a heart attack - all while in bed with Jane.
Bobbi and Don going at it on the dinner table in front of Betty and Jimmy.
It's just endless, isn't it? Cheers! ;o)
Hi everyone!
I'm with SCfan, (she posted under the first SNL thread). I would love to see Jon doing a remake of Dan Ackroyd's "Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute"!!
Even funnier would be Dan A.coming back to do a cameo with Jon...Double male prostitutes, or re-make of The Wild and Crazy Guys"!
The Wild and Crazy guys were always a favorite of mine on SNL, too 60's child. Instead of two Wild and Crazy guys, how about two Serious and Crazy guys - Don (Jon) and Dan wearing fedora hats instead of those golf hats. Doing the Wild and Crazy walk in suits intead of polyester pants/shirts in the SC office? Throw in plenty of sexual harrassment and you'll have every MM fan rolling with laughter!. Cheers ;o)
Loooove all these ideas! I have to say, I do still hope there is a rehash of Fred Garvin...and I love your idea, 60'schild, to have double male prostitutes with a guest appearance by Dan A. maybe running a "school"for male prostitutes (a la Anthony Perkins on SNL way back there running the "Norman Bates School of Motel Management" !!)
Also, D&S I loved all your sketch ideas esp. those Wild and Crazy guys---that would be great as well...can't you just see Jon H. doing that unforgettable dance/walk (whatever the hell it was!) they did when they were getting ready to go out and look for the "foxes" who will be turned on by their "bulges" ???!!! can't wait...
Maybe Steve Martin will guest! He was one of the Wild and Crazy guys, too right? and maybe Jon H. will come out like they do at the opening of the show in a white suit----with an "arrow" through his head----or a "King Tut" hat! Any of the ideas everyone has said would be great. I just hope they do something really funny and not "waste" him!
Even the Chris Farley bit (motivational speaker) where JH would be "living in a van down by the river" might be good...
@Sharon: Thanks for the info!
All the skit ideas are hilarious!!
I think with a hair color change, Jon could do a funny Joe Biden acting like an a$$.
His opening monologue could be a tongue in cheek about how happy he was for Cranston's emmy win. That is the tip of the iceberg, there are so many things the writers could do skits about.
I wonder why he was not cast as Klaatu? His build is so right for it and he looks good in suits. I am comparing him to Michael Rennie. Is his charactor suppose to be the beau that wants to bust out Klaatu? The name of the person in the original was Tom Stevens played by Hugh Marlowe. Anyone know more? I have not read the short story. Maybe Hamm will be the Doctor at Walter Reed.
Hi,
How about the rumors Mrs. Palin will also be guesting on SNL on October 25? Meanwhile, for those of you wondering about Jon's comedic bent, check out the "Never Not Funny" blog this week where you can see our man funning it up in unplugged mode in a short video. If you sign up for the full hour and a half audio expect to hear interesting tidbits about the Emmy broadcast, auditioning for the show and a few sidebar topics you probably wouldn't hear from Don in mixed company :-). Jon looks great and is funny as hell - lots of dry wit with occasional Draper-like delivery. A wicked combination Visan should love (I did).
D&S..."Peggy wearing the Relax-iciser all day in the office"---Hilarious! (esp. if she had it on OVER her clothes...)
Thanks for the SNL update.
I am going to really miss this show. I wish they would have a 2 hour finale. Time goes so quickly I cannot believe only three episodes left.
Ha! Ha! I love the idea of Jon portraying Fred Garvin. That skit was great. This will be something to look forward too. Sadly,it's the night before the last episode of MM.
......These are all so funny.....that was such a great era for SNL (sob) .....'Fred Garvin' would be great!
Wondering if they'll toss J.H. into any other period-type "movies" or "shows" skits. I could picture him in a wife-beater yelling, "Stellllaaaaaaaa!!" or something. The possibilities are endless with a guy like him. All I can say is I hope those writers are on top of it.... there are a lot of funny things they can do, but Jon Hamm isn't your average "Joe actor." It will be interesting.
Speaking of comedy, one of the funniest guys I've ever seen is George Clooney in O' Brother, Where Art Thou. No one really knew he had a comedic side, and he was funny as hell. They all were. He got real respect from me for the first time ever in that movie.
With the face that Jon Hamm has, and his range and sense of humor, I can totally see him doing something like that. As a matter of fact, I would be disappointed if he never did address the funny side. He needs to get with the Coen Brothers.
I'm sure they are all swimming in new scripts now, and probably have their pick of the best stuff. That will be great, but this cast is an ensemble that probably won't be parallelled or imitated any time soon.
I wonder if they are considering any feature films. That used to be the kiss of death, but since the Sex and the City movie was done so well and acclaimed and successful, it could be huge. Matt Weiner is one of the ones who could get it done right.
One more time...(it's so funny it bears repeating---a classic---anyone who's already read this just skip it)
Dan Ayckroyd/Fred Garvin: after arriving at Margot Kidder's (his "customer") hotel room door----
"To start things off, let me just strike a few seductive poses...(stretches across bed in tacky, blousy boxers, black socks, "old man" undershirt, black-rimmed glasses---and still wearing his fedora!)
"Now young lady, if you'll just assist me off with this rather elaborate network of trusses, I'll show you a night of passion you'll never forget!-----because I am---(camera zooms in)----Fred Garvin.....Male Prostitute"
Sorry, I couldn't resist....
Wow, Dry, Yes it would be soooo great if after about 7+ seasons of MM on TV, Matt W. and Co. did start making MM feature films---what a great thing that would be! Hell, the Star Trek bunch got to be a bit seasoned (= old) but it didn't matter---those films were still popular...let's hope it happens!
Anyone remember Martin Short's "Ed Grimley" on SNL? Now that would be "cute" (not)...Jon with that "unicorn" greased-up "point" of hair shooting out of his front hairline...not to mention the "Fred Mertz pants"---hitting about armpit height! sooooo many possibilities! LOL
Now I'm thinking that they may not do a sketch parody of the show, at least not one that gets deep into character parodies, because MM doesn't have a huge number of actual viewers. The show won the Emmy, but would the majority of the mainstream viewers of SNL "get" a parody of the show if they haven't seen an episode? I think it's more likely that they'll do a parody of the Emmy win, or have Jon just mention the show in the monologue. Am I over-thinking this? :o)
Dry - I see the parallels between Mr. Hamm and George Clooney too! What handsome men!
Thanks Sharon for the update! I can't wait to see what sheningans SNL will pull on the show about Madmen. I will be tuned in!
.....scfan....STOP - you're killing me! seriously - you are quite the after-hours mischievious one!
hanna, of course you are right - tsk! some people are just so damned practical!
also? (upspeak)... it's all about the eyebrows - that whole facial extremism......
I gotta tell you, I took another look and I have to say I think our man Hamm is a big partier.
With friends like Jimmy Kimmell and Sarah Silverman, you'd have to just to stay sane, right?
