"MAD" VIEWERS

Do you ever get the feeling that "WE" are the show? MM is so based on self-interpretation, and speculation that "WE" actually become the show. MM is just a format of dialog, close-ups, and innuendos, there are really no resolutions, or endings. The story is limited only by our OWN imagination..........

Does anyone know when they will start to air re-runs of SEASON 2? I missed a few of the episodes and can't go back.

Yeah I was thinking today along those lines. I can't hold my peace when some posters say outlandish things and so I speak up, but then I get called names and barked at basically. I started to think that people wouldn't say those things if they didn't really like to read all the drama on these threads! So stop pretending you're better than everyone else!

WADITAH......JUST an observation dear...Follow my example.....post your opinion and move on ! p.s......... I never pretend, that would be acting.......

You are absolutely right chocolatecherry. The fact that Matt Weiner discusses the episodes as if he were one of the bloggers is the clue.

Unfortunately, this show does not come close to David Chase's "The Sopranos." It is an interesting show because of the era it depicts. But where is the drama?

Besides the last scene in Episode 1 (Peggy in hospital) there are no real surprises. And, if you think about it, there have been no heart-wrenching love scenes to date.

Let's hope some one gets killed or at least maimed before this season ends. If not, then we are the show.

Bravo

Penultimate,
I don't where to begin to reply to your post. There have been a number of surprises in this season. It sounds as if you equate violence with drama. Mad Men is ripe with psychological drama, the kind most of us live with. Very few of us are mob men as those portrayed in The Sopranos. Frankly, I thought the best story lines in The Sopranos were those without violence. It was much more interesting to watch how the characters related to each other than it was to watch them shoot each other or beat each other up.

I was a loyal Sopranos fan, but I think Mad Men surpasses that series in character development. Just my opinion.

THATS FUNNY CHOPIN.... I'VE HEARD OF A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER, AND I LOVE THEM! BUT A PSYCHOLOGICAL DRAMA? HMMMMMMMM.......? OPPOSE TO WHAT? A NON-PSYCHOLOGICAL DRAMA? HMMM....VERY INTERESTING............

OK. Everyone back to their corners! Mad Men is a brilliantly crafted piece of culture, just as The Sopranos was...it deals with a specific niche part of America, one in the past, one in the present, and totally subjective takes on these people, their behaviors and the eras in which they take place. They are part soap opera, part history, and pure Americana which is what sets them apart from other ventures that have not garnered this kind of wonderful attention. Lie back, enjoy the show and let it all wash over you...it's a fabulous ride!

KATIE, KATIE, KATIE..... AMERICANA? LIKE NORMAN ROCKWELL? I THINK NOT, BUT ITS AN INTERESTING SHOW FOR NOW, HOWEVER, IN THE SHOWS ATTEMPT TO BE FRESH AND INNOVATIVE, I THINK PEOPLE ARE LOSING INTEREST, BASICALLY DUE TO THE LOOSE ENDS. IT KINDA REMINDS ME OF A SHOW LONG AGO( IF YOU'RE OLD ENOUGH DO YOU REMEMBER) MARY HART MARY HART.

user-pic

CCherry....of course, Americana!...but NOT like Norman Rockwell...not even close!....think again!

And Mary Hart?...do you mean Mary Hartman?...and I sure don't see the connection at all...sorry!

Katie see, its been so long i cant even remember the name! but what i do remember about the show was that it was off-beat for the time.... like MM is trying to be. Sorry Katie, but AMERICANA is AMERICANA, and the word to me means:TRULY AMERICAN. how many other TV shows could be labled "AMERICANA" lets see..... I DREAM OF JEANNE perhaps? BONANZA? and the list could go on forever..........
