My dad had Harry's EXACT glasses (WHY didn't I SAVE those!), and Ken Cosgrove's slim-line butane lighter, and $300 suits, when a decent suit cost $50.00........but he wore these very expensive, leather, wing-tipped dress shoes.

I'm bothered by Don Draper's footwear. It seems sophomoric and lacking in moxy......Did anyone's husband or father wear the fancy wing-tips?? They were very solid, and well-made, and my dad had a cedar shoe-form for every single one. I think he may have had more shoes than my mother!

My father owned a shoe store called Wood & Sterlings in Minnesota from 1955-1968. He wore wing tipped shoes every day and and also had those cedar shoe forms. I loved spending time there on Sundays when he would take us kids (5) with him to the store to do paperwork and get us out of moms hair. Being a little girl with all those shoes to play with, I was in heaven!
