Don's secret Bank account?
Has Dick/Don ever shown behavior relating to secret money? Revolving credit as we know it today did not start until the mid 60s but maybe Don/Dick has a stash some of you may know about? He's going back to S/C we can be sure of that - but where is his geldt coming from? Does he carry THAT much $$ on him? I'm puzzled about his finances and how he transacts 'business'.

Maybe Don has one of those private/secret executive accounts Sterling Cooper was pitching to Liberty Bank last season. And yes he does have a stash of cash. Maybe he dipped into the pile he keeps at the house before leaving for California. Remember when he reached in his desk at home and took like 5k in cash to his brother? Any who, I doubt funds for his little side trip are a problem. Not for a guy as smart and resourceful as Don. Accommodations certainly aren't a problem. He just stays with the women he picks up along the way.
Just a thought, Lucky Strike, he could be using a Dinner's Club or Carte Blanche credit card for his travelling expenses. It could be a personal or a business account.
I'm sure, too, that he has ready money available but I doubt that he had a large amount on him for this trip. For one thing, Don didn't seem concerned at all when he was told about his wallet falling out of his trousers when he passed out. There he was among complete (weird) strangers who just casually mention that they looked through his wallet. If he was carrying big bucks wouldn't his first reaction be to check the wallet?
But your guess is as good as mine - this last episode really left me with more questions than answers. And that just keeps me coming back for more!
I believe Don's phonecall was to access some money so he can proceed on his journey using the real Don's assets. I have always thought the blonde at the dealership was not going to be an unattended loose end. I now believe she is the gatekeeper to the monies Don Draper had accummulated prior to his military tour.
When she finally located him, she and the imposter (Dick) may have made a pact to use the dead Draper's assets and cover for each other. She must have used Don because otherwise she would have no access to the monies (like a fiance' or bookkeeper) and he would have gone along to avoid being exposed as a fraud.
This is the only scenario I can think of where he would speak of himself as Dick Whitman to someone familiar enough to recognize his voice. Dick Whitman was not rich, but Don Draper certainly could have accumulated and inherited wealth. Dick inherited Don's name, education, financial obligations and history. It's not unrealistic to learn he can return to the life Don left behind in order to move his new life forward.
I knew it!
When the nomads told Don that his wallet had fallen out of his trousers, I agree that he did not seem concerned. Wouldn't it be hilarious if a third Donald Draper emerged? Just wondering
