desperate housewives connection
Does anyone realize the shared actors from MM and Desperate Housewives? Duck Phillips (Mark Moses) was a key character in season I, Roger Sterling (John Slattery) played Eva Longoria's politician husband, and Anna Draper (Melinda Page Hamilton) played a nun in love with Eva Longoria's first husband Carlos. What's next - Marcia Cross as Joan's sister? They're both tall redheads...

What do you mean?
I watched that show three times and that was it for me. Not crazy about it. Too "Girly."

ahh.. good call/catch.. thanks for pointing that out
Drapery, you're right. I caught a rerun of DH on cable the other day and both Mark Moses (Duck) and the actress who played Bobbie Barrett (Melinda McGraw) were in that episode. I don't watch DH, but I think it was an earlier episode based on the ages of the kid actors. The two shows must think alike in casting.
Huh? These are two totally different shows and I don't see any connection at all, other than a couple of character actors were on both shows at different times. Other than this, no connection. What's your point?
Not interested in DH. I agree with PeteandTrudy.
I remember when John Slattery was on Sex and the City and he dumped Carrie 'cause she wouldn't pee on him. Totally off topic, but I've been watching him pop up (maybe a bit too literally) in all these sexy shows for a while.
I went and saw "W" this weekend. Don't know which character he played, but there was Fr. Gill in the Oval Office (Colin Hanks).
Not really my kind. Sorry...

Well, it seems to make sense that Desparate Housewives would connect with MM viewers. I have always thought of Betty, Francine and Sarah Beth as desparate housewives! Cheers ;o)
Good eye! I had noticed Duck and Roger were previous Desperate Housewives cast members. While Anna looked familiar, I did not realize she had played the nun a couple of seasons back in DH. Thanks for pointing that out.
I enjoy both shows. Mad Men's more layered, complex, compelling, and mysterious. But DH is fun, comical, and good escapism.
BTW, I think Kyle McLachlan, who plays Orson on DH and was Agent Cooper in Twin Peaks, would fit right in with the Mad Men cast if he ever leaves DH.
Kyle McLachlan would be great on MM! I enjoy DH too but MM is sooo much better! Colin Hanks is Tom Hanks' son, btw. The apple has not fallen far from the tree!
I totally noticed the connection. Not only do the actors you mentioned appear in both shows, but Kevin Rahm is currently appearing in both shows: in "Desperate Housewives" he is Lee McDermott and in "Mad Men" he is Ted Chaough who works for BBDO. Last season, Samuel Page appeared as Greg Harris on "Mad Men" and also as Sam Allen on "Desperate Housewives".
