Catharsis as the theme for "Mediations..."

Catharsis as the theme for "Mediations..."

Don/Dick admits his affair and begins to renew his life...
Peggy is cruel but kind, baring her soul by underlining the end of her affair with Pete and letting him know of the existence of his son...

Betty in "soiling" herself, can finally forgive Don...(Maybe there is more to it, but I suspect that was why she had to have her quickie affair.)
Pete comes to terms with his love for Peggy...Learns there are repercussions for being an #%# ...And his relationship with Don is reborn... "One never knows how loyalty is born."

Those left behind...
Roger still hasn't realized what he's lost...
Trudy must be coming to realize what Pete's not coming with her meant but still hasn't quite admitted it to herself...
Duck is a sad and broken man...
Joan...Oh, poor Joan...

Speaking of left behind...whatever became of Chauncey?

I have huge empathy for Joan... I'm guessing she's in her early 30's, been w/ SC since college and tho her cool detachment and professionalism is a fine offset to the sexual tension she creates, she is never considered an intergal part of the sucess of the agency . She is watching a 21 year old Peggy move from one more clerk/typist to an office w/ a view in spite of a 'school girl' wardrobe and mousy demeanor. Joan did a fabuluz job of script review and made great contribution , yet her work was not valued and when the time came to hire, she was not even considered . This encapsulates the working woman of the '60's.

I dont think Peggy told Pete to be cruel. I am sure it was cathartic for her to get it off her chest though.
