I wonder if the baby is Don's. We saw some different sexual activity from Betty last night. Who knows, maybe she has had these liasons before?

I was a little confused by the OB/GYN scene. I assume Betty had lab work already that showed she was pregnant, but, the results weren't immediate like today's at home tests. Also, to actually confirm a pregnancy the MD would have to do a pelvic exam. Pregancy causes changes to a woman's body that the MD can see on examination.

So many possibilities...that's one of the reasons that Iove Mad Men!!

I don't think Betty has had sex with anyone but Don and the guy at the bar. I thought she was going to Albany to have an abortion when she took the kids to Don's hotel.

I think Betty had a rabbit test. I think those were the pregnancy tests of that day. You inject a bunny with the urine and if it dies you will be a mama. You had to be a little ways along and then you did the test and then it took a week or so for the results. Who could live with that suspense?

Lilyann - How in the world did someone come up with that rabbit test?! Betty is probably several weeks along in her pregnancy. Roger mentioned to Don that he wanted to see him "3 weeks ago" and Betty & Don had sex at least a few weeks before that at her father's house. She probably went to the dr after the bleeding and had the "rabbit test."

The only reason I think it could POSSIBLY not be Don's child is because they made a point to recall the time that young guy tried to kiss her in the stables, but didn't really make it relevant in the episode (except perhaps to throw us off).

Only because the show occasionally opperates this way, it could be that Peggy's attempt to get her friend to cheat was a way of clearing her conscience. It could also explain why he freaked out a bit when he met her kids at the country club.

That said, i think it's Don's. I think the reason they were so sad at the end of the episode is because they both know "it's not a good time" because their future together is so unstable.

She could have missed two peroids by now. It is 1962 people. Betty may be an emptional dissappointment...but she is not with anyone with Don. Seroisuly people....come on.

The Dr. thought she was being vain about having another child and what is would do to her figure. The Dr. was being very decent for that time interacting with a young pregnant wife.

I think the reason Don is so sad at the end is because he doesn't know if Betty wanted him home because she loves him or because she's pregnant.

Remember the carosel scene where there is a slide of Don happily laying his head on Betty's very pregnant tummy. Of course this baby is his! But perhaps the horseback riding and her naughty encounter will cause her to miscarry. Guess we won't find out for a while.

People fail to remember that pregnant women weren't "delicate" back then. They smoked, drank, danced, swam - did all of the housework, including washing and waxing the floors and doing the windows. You can't miscarry a healthy pregnancy. Especially by riding a horse or having sex.

I don't know much about the rabbit test except the old joke when you let someone know you were pregnant was "The rabbit died". Don't know when they started them or when they stopped those tests and came up with new ways to tell but when you finally could buy the over the counter ones, WOW, another giant step for womankind. Of course the baby is Don's as are the other two. The writers aren't trying to drive us all to drug use with crazy story lines. Did anybody notice how Betty was giving in to her "cravings" in that bar? She was all dressed up in that gorgeous little suit, drinking a gimlet, with a (did anyone else see it?) Schrafts candy bag in front of her, and the ultimate "craving" satisfied when she laid the Golden Stranger. If ya gotta be pregnant for 9 months ya gotta have a wild night to remember to carry you through.

Someone posted here (Momotter, I think) that Betty is not carrying Don's baby. Yes, she is. Matthew Wiener himself has indicated that in an article that I read and that I am sure others read as well. It's Don's baby. And the other two Draper children are his and Betty' s as well. Where does anyone get the idea they aren't? Why would anyone even speculate on this? Betty had a quickie in the bar with that guy and she was already pregnant with Don's baby. Why do people keep on with the idea that it's someone else's? Was Betty impregnated my space aliens, perhaps? And yes, I'm joking.
