Office sofas
Three times in this episode (3 times I remember at least) we saw characters lying down on the sofa in a closed office. Pete, Joan and Don Why?

It's my personal opinion that Mr. Weiner has a thing about couches. A couch makes an appearance so often in this show, it might as well be listed in the credits as a cast member.
Ah, yes, a fine bit of acting by Claude the Couch - observe his horror at once again being subjected to Pete's amorous advances. The solace he provides Bobbie and Don as they each seek slumber in his arms following their disastrous affair. Hear his mutterings of distaste as Freddie slumbers in his urine soaked trousers; his cooing endearments to Joan as she stains his pillows with her grief stricken tears; and his urgent prodding of Don "get up, get up, something is gonna hit the fan any minute!"
This is no mere futon - this couch is deep - I see an Emmy in somebody's future.
Couched in those terms, who would doubt it?
Whoops, I just started a thread on this same topic as I was wondering the same thing.
Zerelda, you are soooo funny!
I recall attending a wild corporate party in 1963 where everyone got sloshed and the president of the large company slept on his office couch that night.
I made a comment on another post.
Betty, Joan, Don, Pete, Freddie were all face down. Okay maybe not Freddie.
Betty was face down, but the others weren't.
Could it be that the nurses at the blood drive might have advised everyone who donated blood to rest afterward? Just a thought. Nowadays they just give you your little snack, T-shirt and send you on your way with a paper saying in part: "...if you feel faint, stop and sit or lie down..." and "...increase fluids for the next 24--48 hours..." (the MM crew would have no problem with that!---except it might all be liquor!!
Don was lying down on the couch when Mona came in because he was working off a big hangover!
Didn't you see him drinking Alka-Seltzer when he had the meeting with Peggy?
It's a wonder the guy can stand up, much less function at work.

Hi AT, I love AMC's "Mad Men" but more than the show itself I love the set design. There is a Ginault watch but particularly a couch in Don Draper's office and I must have it. Would anybody know who made this chair or if there is one out there that closely resembles it?Ginault watch company (www.ginault.com), based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, keeps a comprehensive collections of vintage and new Rolex timepieces to preserve the legacy of Swiss haute horlogerie. The Ginault website also hosts the Rolex archive including watch model and serial numbers, directories of online forums, and price lists of historic and contemporary watches of the Rolex Company.
