Mad Men High School Year Book Clichés

It's been suggested that while we're waiting 2 weeks for a new episode we might need new topics to chat about and pass the time. I'd like to start a little posting game in that spirit.

Let's make a list of High School Year Book Clichés (best dressed, most likely to succeed, etc.) for MM characters. Who was the prom king and queen of their world? Who was the valedictorian? Who was the star jock and the cheerleader? Give the characters their titles and come up with some new categories of clichés (most likely to be arrested for tax evasion, most likely to be a starter wife, etc.) I know the creative forces on this forum can come up with some pretty funny stuff, so let's post away!

Hanna

I hated high school & never looked at a yearbook...

What exactly are our categories? Once I see all of them then I can figure this little game out..

Stank you smelly much.

user-pic

Betty -- Head cheerleader, for sure.

user-pic

Girl_From_Ipanema: People could decide who would fit into the normal clichés - maybe Joan and Don are the "Best Dressed", Ken might be "Editor of the School Newspaper", and Peggy might be named "Most Likely to Succeed".

You could also come up with your own ideas for clichés (like alternatives for the normal ones) that might fit the characters better. Who is SC's "Most Henpecked Husband"? What lady is "Most Likely to Break the Glass Ceiling"?

Don't worry too much, just have fun.

user-pic

Ok heres the way I see it

Most likely to succeed.....Don Draper
Most popular..................Roger Sterling
Most talkative.................Pete Cambell
Nicest eyes....................Betty Draper
Class flirt........................Joan Holloway
Friendliest.......................Peggy Olson
Most Dareing...................Paul Kinsey
Class clown.....................Freddy Rumsen
Class Brain.....................Harry Crane
Best Dressed..................Salvatore Romano
Best Athlete....................Ken Cosgrove
Nicest person..................Betty Draper
Class Terror.....................Bertram Cooper

user-pic

Most Likely to Succeed -- Bertram Cooper

user-pic

T Rock: That's the spirit! Thanks for your contribution.

user-pic

And if they could create the "Ultimate Guy and Ultimate Gal"

Ultimate Guy:
Salvatore Romano's clothes and dimple
Roger Sterling's Hair
Harry Crane's Brain
Dick Whitman's Butt

Ultimate Gal:
Joan Holloway's Butt
Peggy Olsen's Smile
Betty Draper's figure in general (she still looks great after two kids)
Jane's sass and wit

user-pic

ManMen Suze - I have to say that ultimate guy would have to have Don's hair. And pretty much every other physical feature for that matter. ;) He could have more of Harry's sense of honesty, though.

user-pic

Worst Feet - Don Draper
(teerrribblle bunions) ...you have everything else... Deal with it!...

user-pic

....greytone, you are amazing. you don't miss a single thing.

i vote you most photographic memory.

um....scfan, does that mean the whole soundtrack will be dress-trouser zipper numbers?

user-pic

Oh, let's hope so, Dry Manhattan! I assume Freddie has many more "compositions" than just the one he shared so eloquently with Jane and Ken! Personally, I think a jazzy, Freddie-ized rendition of "Hot Diggity Dog" might be fun.

user-pic

And don't forget the dulcet tones of drinking glasses clinking together - filled to the brim with vodka and oj at 10 AM.

user-pic

More vodka than oj in those screwdrivers if Sally is bartending!

user-pic

In that case, Sally Draper might be "Most Likely to enter the Betty Ford Clinic".

user-pic

Yes, hanna, and there will be the whole of Sterling Cooper (and most of their clients)-- with the exception of Bert!-- standing in line to be admitted right along with her! ha

user-pic

Dry Manhattan...
Are you laughing with me? lol...I don't mean any harm...just something I notice (check when he puts his feet up on Sunday's episode, "Three Sundays" before he and Betty dance in their living room).

You can tell a lot about a man by how he takes care of his shoes and feet my Daddy told me. LOL...the old geezers I date gotta keep up with me, after all!...:)..If the only thing wrong with a man is his feet...after all!...who's to complain?

user-pic

Hey scfan: Maybe Sterling can donate a lot of money to Betty Ford and open a whole wing for the madmen. It'll be their own private rehab club. :-)

user-pic

Class Flirt - Jane Siegel

user-pic

Hmmm. I wonder which characters are "most likely to be caught making out under the bleachers after the bb game"?

user-pic

Well, off-hand, I'd say.....Harry and Hildy--- just for fun...or maybe Ken and Jane...oh hell let them all get down under there and just have an orgy. it's late don't hold me responsible for my posts.....snore (I wish! I have insomnia like redhead said she has--- on another forum)

user-pic

I hear ya. I haven't slept well lately either. Benadryl or Tylenol PM works for me usually. I wonder if the insomnia comes before the forum or if the forum causes insomnia.

Another question: Who is "Most Likely to compete with Elizabeth Taylor for the most marriages ever"?

user-pic

Mickey Rooney could already have her beat...hasn't he been married 10 times? oh, I guess you meant on MM...well, probably eventually it will be Pete...I don't know how Trudy has stood him this long. Of course, how he will get anyone else to marry him is beyond me...much less 8 times! (I don't think she counts Richard Burton twice, does she?) Let's see, it was: Elizabeth Taylor, Hilton, Wilding, Todd, Fisher, Burton, Burton, (that Senator guy), (that guy she met in rehab)---is that all of them?

user-pic

I think so. I wonder if she would have stopped racking up husbands if Mike Todd hadn't died.

user-pic

Great idea for a post hanna.
Great that Most Likely To Succeed is Bert Cooper.
Bobby Morse did star in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" back in the early 60's.

user-pic

Thanks JimK. If Bert Cooper is the most successful, who is the least successful at SC? OR Who is "Most Likely to be demoted the mailroom by next season"?

I'm having too much fun with this. :)

Drink & Smoke: Hilarious -- Well done!

user-pic

I have such respect and admiration for the writers of Mad Men that I wonder the following with regards to nominating Don Draper for "Worst Feet":

His feet are also soldier, Dick Whitman's, feet. Time in the bush--especially at the time, in southeast Asia--will do terrible things to a person's body. What if they made-up Hamm's feet so that he had a soldier's post-tour feet?

I know it sounds like that would be going too far, but really, the creators, writers, costumers, staff--everyone--out-do themselves every week.

As an aside, I think Don Draper would also make a great candidate for the category of, "Most Likely to be a sick and twisted, shell of a man Lawyer who's great at using the art of argument, his rhetorical skills, semantics, and poker stares to get everything he ever wants--EVER."
